I love each new full-length novel in the Below the Stairs mystery series by Jennifer Ashley and naturally gobble up the novellas she releases to sate my appetite between releases. In A Moveable Feast, Kat Holloway’s employer abruptly moves Easter dinner to her friend’s house when their cook becomes ill… but something is afoot and Kate is determined to discover what is happening.

Spring 1884
Kat Holloway's employer abruptly decides the family will spend Easter dinner at a friend's house in Portman Square, where Kat will substitute for that home's cook, who has fallen ill. Kat strongly objects but has no choice but to obey.
Intrigue and sudden death in that household, however, catches Kat off-guard and plunges her, Daniel, and their friends into yet another dangerous mystery.
Kat Holloway is the cook in a Mayfair home and has established herself as a bit of an amateur sleuth, working together with her beau Daniel and group of friends and allies. The series has a slow-burning romance, friendships, and each book contains a mystery as it continues an overall arc. I recommend reading them in the order of their release. The novellas can be read in order with series or binged.
Ashley delivered a fast-paced, well execute mystery highlighting Kat at her best. She pulls together a meal, investigates and keeps me hooked. I devoured this one in one sitting and was left wholly rewarded. Daniel steps in to help, which allows us to enjoy page time with our couple together as they share dreams of their future. I love the romance, friendships and Kat herself. She is quite clever and her dishes make my mouth water, especially the desserts.
Whether you’ve read the series, I recommend reading A Moveable Feast set over the Easter holiday. Ashley has the novellas available in two boxed sets now as well.

I completely missed this one coming out and need to pick it up. I really love this series.
Mary Kirkland
I’ve read some of Ashley’s paranormal romance books but nothing else. This sounds like it would be good.
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?
I love it when series include novellas! They’re a short burst of fun that keep you connected to the story and the characters. I think Ilona Andrews does this really well.
Kimberly
I agree, Andrews, Ashley and Kelly Armstrong are all brilliant at this.
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?
Ohh, yes! Armstrong is another favorite.
Anne - Books of My Heart
Great review! I haven’t been able to find this one at the library. But maybe I’ll do the boxed set.
Kimberly
The novellas are self-published.
