It was so good to be back with the Thursday Murder Club, and The Impossible Fortune by Richard Osman was filled with murder, puzzles, and twists. The gang is all back, and this time we’ve got a little help in unexpected places. Check out my thoughts on the audiobook narrated by Fiona Shaw.

The unmissable new mystery in the Thursday Murder Club series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Richard Osman, now streaming on Netflix
Who's got time to think about murder when there's a wedding to plan?
It’s been a quiet year for the Thursday Murder Club. Joyce is busy with table plans and first dances. Elizabeth is grieving. Ron is dealing with family troubles, and Ibrahim is still providing therapy to his favorite criminal.
But when Elizabeth meets Nick, a wedding guest asking for her help, she finds the thrill of the chase is ignited once again. And when Nick disappears without a trace, his cagey business partner becomes the gang’s next stop. It seems the duo have something valuable—something worth killing for.
Joyce’s daughter, Joanna, jumps into the fray to help the gang as they seek answers: Has someone kidnapped Nick? And what’s this uncrackable code they keep hearing about? Plunged back into action once more, can the four friends solve the puzzle and a murder in time?
It seems some time has passed since our last adventure with the Thursday Murder Club. Joyce’s daughter, Joanna, is getting ready to marry Paul. Elizabeth is grieving the loss of her husband, and Ron is dealing with family trouble. As for Ibrahim, he is still counseling Connie. The wedding of Joanna and Paul brings the gang all together.
At the wedding, Elizabeth is approached by Nick, a guest at the wedding. It seems someone planted a bomb under his car, and he needs help to discover who. Before you know it, Elizabeth and Joyce are investigating and soon bring the rest of the club together and honorary guests like Donna the constable.
The mystery was delightfully delicious and takes us into the world of bitcoins. The plot was clever, and Osman’s mastery of the written word shone as I was transported into the story. It takes a little to really dig in as we delve deeper into our characters’ lives. Our gang is getting older, and that comes with its own set of problems. I love how Osman is weaving in new characters and mysteries. I loved Kendrick, who stole every scene he was in, and even Connie got involved! Donna cracked me up with her talk about the royals, and Bogdan is a character I enjoy. I adore this motley crew, especially Joyce and her need to feed everyone.
When I retire, I’d love to pack my bags and move to Coppers Chase and become a member of the Thursday Murder Club. While each book contains its own mystery, I recommend listening in the order of their release. Do it for the friendships you’ll form. Trust me, you’ll want to move to Cooper Chase too.
Fiona Shaw provided a lovely narration. In particular, her voice for Joyce. She has really captured her and really these characters. For me, these are an autobuy on audio and ones I will listen to again.

Great review, Kimberly. I am behind on this series and need to read the last one before this one. It’s true as the characters get older, there is a new set of problems.
