Last year I read The Hallowed Ones and loved the tale Laura Bickle gave us. It was one of my favorite reads, and I was on pins and needles to begin The Outside. Bickle continued Katie’s journey and kept me on the edge of my seat, as we faced danger, death and a freaky solution in this dystopian world. Darkness Rises by Dianne Duvall quickly reminded me why I enjoy paranormal romances wrapped in suspense and a little paranormal woo-woo. While this was my first Duvall novel and the fourth in the Immortal Guardians series, this worked wonderfully as a standalone. Fans of Laurie London’s Sweetblood series will love the fast-pace, characters and sizzling romance that Duvall delivers. Three word review: suspenseful, romantic and action-packed.
Pretty When She Destroys was an exciting, powerful conclusion to the Pretty When She Dies series by Rhiannon Frater. I love Frater’s dark and gritty take on paranormal romance and the fleshed out, vibrant and fresh characters she creates. I devoured this and was sad to say good-bye to this trilogy. Three word review: action-packed, awesome and addicting!
I am not Russian, and I have never been to Russia, but I absolutely love books set in any era of Russia. And because of that, I have immensely enjoyed the Katerina Trilogy by Robin Bridges. The Morning Star the third and finally book in this non-stop action tale of Katerina Alexandrovna, Duchess of Oldenburg, necromancer who longs to be a doctor in a world of men. Bridges delivered a tale, froth with danger, and weaved in a sweet romance. Three word review: captivating, suspenseful, and heartwarming.
With Cursed Embrace, Cecy Robson has been added to my favorite authors list and The Weird Girls series is one of my favorite urban fantasy series. Fans of Kim Harrison’s the Hollows series and Patricia Brigg’s Mercy Thompson series will devour Weird Girls. Robson delivered an action-packed tale with characters I instantly connected with. She took me on an emotional roller coaster ride and I want more! Three world review: Intense, heart-breaking and brilliant.
