I love dystopian novels and was drawn to the synopsis for Yesterday. The bulk of the tale takes place in 1985. Not to give my age away or anything, but I graduated from high school in 1985. My teen years seriously reflect all that you know about this iconic time in history. Martin creates a suspenseful science-fiction dystopian and wonderfully portrayed the eighties as I remember them.
Isolation by Dan Wells
I bought this because I totally loved Partials and think Dan Wells rocks! Isolation by Dan Wells offers us a unique look back at the Isolation Wars that created the dystopian world we learned about in Partials. This was truly fascinating and explains why the Partials rebelled.
Skylark by Meagan Spooner
When I read the synopsis for Skylark I was immediately drawn to this dystopian type fantasy. I am delighted to tell you that it delivered a magical, dark dystopian world with a touch of steampunk. Spooner’s depiction of this world was refreshingly original with fleshed-out characters and a tale that kept me reading through the night.
I will be honest; the beginning however fascinating was a little rough for me. Rather than laying out the world …
Struck by Jennifer Bosworth
I was drawn to both the cover and concept of Struck. I love post-apocalyptic dystopian worlds and I’m fascinated by lightening. In author Jennifer Bosworth’s world Los Angeles and other areas of the world have been struck with natural disasters. Experts are worried there will be more events, and religious zealots are crying end of times.
We are introduced to Mia Price in the first line of the novel.”My name is Mia Price, and I am a human lightening rod.” …
Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Insurgent by Veronica Roth was perhaps one of the most anticipated novels for 2012. I absolutely loved Divergent book one in the Divergent series as you can see my review here. I pre-ordered this novel and worried whether or not book two would give me the same rush I experienced in the first one. I am delighted to say that not only did Roth deliver she raised the bar. Insurgent captured me from the first sentence and held me in its grip till the last page. *sighs* Now I have to endure another bout of anticipation while waiting for book three.
