I adore Sarah Addison Allen and was excited to be given a copy of Lost Lake. Allen tells tales with a small-town feel and wraps them in magical realism. I found myself enchanted by her misfit characters and the magical secrets of Lost Lake. Mini review: A tale of second chances, hope and forgiveness. Allen held me spellbound as she led me to Lost Lake.
Jubilee’s Journey by Bette Lee Crosby
In 2012, I read Betty Lee Crosby’s novel Spare Change and absolutely fell in love with the characters in the small town of Wyattsville. I enjoyed it so much I gifted it to friends and family that Christmas. At the time, the book was a standalone, but Betty told me that, Jubilee’s Journey, came to her and I am delighted that it did. In Jubilee’s Journey, I was once again transported back to the apartment complex and reconnecting with Ethan Allen and Grandma Olivia. Mini review: Touching, engaging and heart-warming. The characters spring to life and wrap themselves around your heart.
Review: Big Girl Panties: A Novel by Stephanie Evanovich
Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich wasn’t something I would have picked up, but I am ever so glad Avon Books sent it to me. Evanovich is a Jersey girl like me and I fully connected with her witty humor, and her fleshed out flawed characters. It is a tale of personal growth, romance, and misconceptions. I found myself completely swept up in this easy flowing tale. Three word review: witty, romantic, enlightening.
What Matters Most by Bette Lee Crosby
I have read and enjoyed a few of Bette Lee Crosby’s books and was delighted at the chance to read What Matters Most. Crosby brings her characters to life and shares with us friendship, change, growth and most of all “what matters most.” Three word review: touching, realistic, inspirational.
The Lemon Orchard by Luanne Rice
I was delighted when the opportunity presented itself for me to review The Lemon Orchard and I moved my schedule around to accommodate it. I am so glad that I did because Luanne Rice delivered a beautifully poignant tale about loss, love and hope. From the very first page I was enthralled by the author’s voice and her characters. Three word review: heart-breaking, captivating and beautiful.
