The Blood of Eden series by Julie Kagawa is a favorite and I was delighted to get my hands on Forever Song. It is the final dance with these beloved characters. Their dark world was one that held me captive as the characters stole my heart. Mini review: An action-packed, heart-felt, often hilarious ending to a fantastically brilliant series.
House of Ivy & Sorrow by Natalie Whipple
House of Ivy & Sorrow by Natalie Whipple drew me in with its beautiful cover and a sample of the first paragraph. A curse has been haunting the Hemlock witches, and when a stranger appears at their door the trouble begins. Mini review: While aspects were enjoyable, it was predictable and more suited to a MG audience.
Grimm Consequences by Kate SeRine
Kate Serine’s Transplanted Tales have delighted me, and I was so excited for Grimm Consequences. This is a novella that takes place between Red and the Better to See You. It shares the back-story of Nate Grimm the sexy reaper who won Tess’s heart. Serine brought him to life and made me swoon, shed a tear and fall deeper in love with this reaper. Mini review: Fans of the series will be deeply satisfied with Nate’s tale.
Waking the Dead by Heather Graham
Waking the Dead is the second book in the Cafferty and Quinn mysteries by Heather Graham. We meet this duo in the first book, Let the Dead Sleep and I was excited to team up with them again. Set in New Orleans former police detective Michael Quinn and gifted shop owner Danielle Cafferty must uncover clues and protect the city from evil. Mini review: a thrilling mystery with a motley crew that drew me in and held me captive.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is the first novel in the Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin. The tale is a mystery and a romance with a paranormal twist. It has an unreliable narrator and was one heck of a crazy ride. Mini review: Twisted, dark, romantic, frustrating, and suspenseful. Hodkin delivered a pull your hair-out read that left me scratching my head and screaming for more.
