What A Boy Wants by Nyrae Dawn was my first ever YA contemporary experience. Are you shocked? Excluding Harry Potter and TwilightI am basically a YA newbie. I began reading them in earnest a little over six months ago. My YA drug of choice has been; dystopian, paranormal and urban fantasy. I am not a huge contemporary fan to begin with -with the exception of small town series and anything with a cowboy *swoons*..but I digress. I could not have picked a better book to try. This was a fun, hilarious, sweet and touching tale of first love. I was able to connect; simply from remembering that first crush, that first kiss and that first love.
Slow Summer Kisses by Shannon Stacey
Slow Summer Kisses by Shannon Stacey was a heart-warming romance. While this is a novella, the story felt complete and I enjoyed every minute of it. I quickly became wrapped up in this tale and consumed it in one sitting.
The Last Boyfriend by Nora Roberts
The Last Boyfriend is the second novel in the Inn BoonsBoro Trilogy by Nora Roberts. Set in Maryland these small town tales share the lives of the Montgomery brothers and their women. In this installment we learn Owen and Avery’s story. Filled with romance, a ghost and small town characters that you will come to love, this novel is sure to delight the romance lover in you. While Roberts does a great job of making sure each book can be read as standalone, I recommend reading them in order
Big Sky Country by Linda Lael Miller
Big Sky Country is the first in a new contemporary romance series called Swoon-Worthy Cowboys by popular author Linda Lael Miller. If you follow my blog, you know I am not a huge fan of contemporary romance. There are two exceptions; small towns and heroes in cowboy boots. I have read several of Miller’s series and loved them. In particular The McKettrick’s and the Creed’s. Big Sky Country offers a new town and cast of characters to fall in love with. Each of Miller’s books are designed to be read as standalone. I enjoy reading them in order and building relationships with the characters.
Sunrise Point by Robyn Carr
Sunrise Point by Robin Carr takes us back to the wooded hills of Virgin River. This is the nineteenth book in the Virgin River series. If you follow my reviews you know this is one of my favorite small-town contemporary romance series. I was delighted that Carr brought us Nora Crane’s story. Carr delivers a heart-felt romance built on friendship and trust.
