I very rarely pick up a young adult contemporary, but once in a while a fellow blogger’s comments, or in this case, the voices of many drove me to do so. ALEX, APPROXIMATELY by Jenn Bennett was absolutely delightful! Witty and realistic with friendships and romances that were messy and beautiful. Grab it, whether you are young or young at heart.
Under Rose-Tainted Skies by Louise Gornall
If you follow Caffeinated you know, I am picky about young adult reads and rarely do I ever read a contemporary romance. Under Rose-Tainted Skies by Lousie Gornall spoke to me from the synopsis to the cover and well here I am.
Bright Blaze of Magic by Jennifer Estep
Bright Blaze of Magic is the last book in Jennifer Estep’s urban fantasy trilogy Black Blade. Action packed; with intense struggles over evil, our heroine leads the charge in restoring order to Cloudburst Falls.
Sanctum by Sarah Fine
Sanctum by Sarah Fine is the first in the Guards of Shadowlands and it rocked my ears. Last year I listened to Sarah Fine’s adult urban fantasy series Servants of Fae and loved them. Blogger friends proclaimed I had to listen/read her YA fantasy and I grabbed Sanctum narrated by Amy McFadden. From the world building to the swoony romance and dark corridors beyond the gate, I easily slipped into this world.
The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine
The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine offers up a splendid fantasy with dragons and a kick-ass version of Snow White. I easily slipped into the world and Redwine’s twist on this classic childhood story.
