Dark Heart of Magic is the second novel in Jennifer Estep’s Black Blade trilogy. This young adult fantasy offers spectacular world building and an engaging cast of characters that will have you singing the mantra, “just one more chapter”.
Visions by Kelley Armstrong
I have been in a bit of a reading slump and decided to pick up a book I have had in my tbr pile forever. Visions by Kelley Armstrong the second book in the Cainsville series was exactly what I was craving and once again, Armstrong delivered. It only reaffirmed my love for this series and the strange town of Cainsville.
Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews
Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews is the eighth book in the Kate Daniels series. This is a series where the audio version is my preferred format in part because of Renée Raudman and her stellar performance. Admittedly, I was slightly worried after the events of Magic Breaks, but I should have known the Andrews had a plan. Intense and action-packed Kate and Curran face new challenges and old enemies giving listeners one heck of a ride.
The Drafter by Kim Harrison
The Drafter is the first book in the Peri Reed Chronicles a new series by Kim Harrison whose Hollows series I adored. The Drafter is a science fiction suspense thriller filled with gadgets and covert agencies set against the backdrop of Detroit in the year 2030. It offers a cat and mouse game where Peri Reed must decide whom to trust.
The Undying Legion by Clay Griffith & Susan Griffith
Undying Legion is the second novel in Clay & Susan Griffith’s Victorian-era urban fantasy. Dark, suspenseful and weaved in magic and necromancy the authors kept me on edge while fleshing out characters and their world. I chose to listen and once again, narrator Nicholas Guy Smith brought this tale to life as Simon and Kate investigate these suspicious murders.
