Perfect Timing by Jane O’Reilly delivered a fresh friendship to lover’s trope with a mix of personal growth, humor and self-discovery. I consumed this quick, easy, and predictable read in a single evening.
Against the Wild by Kat Martin
I have long been a fan of Kat Martin’s romantic suspense novels and series and was delighted for the chance to review Against the Wild. This is the first in the Brodies of Alaska series and the tenth Against novel. I met both characters in Against the Mark and felt their connection. Each of these books works as a standalone and features a couple and a mystery. While, the cheesy cover makes me giggle the tale did not. Suspense, heart and wonderful characters made this a winner.
Memory of Water: A Novel by Emmi Itaranta
Memory of Water by Emmi Itaranta is a speculative fiction and one of the first I have read. The writing is beautiful and the tradition of the tea master fascinating. Set against the harsh backdrop of a world changed by global warming and ruled by China, Itaranta shares with us the life of seventeen-year-old Noria Kaitio. Filled with politics and the harsh realities of an occupied town with a water shortage the language held me captive.
Allegiance by Susannah Sandlin
Allegiance is the fourth novel in Susannah Sandlin’s Penton Legacy series, and I was eager to get back to this small-town and its characters. Sandlin’s paranormal romantic suspense series has been intense from the first book, with fleshed out characters, and an action-backed plot. While Sandlin does a great job of filling in the details, I highly recommend reading the Penton series in order. Each tale continues the overall arc and tells the story of one couple. Allegiance grabbed me from page one, and had me holding my breath, swooning and laughing.
The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings
The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings is the first in the dystopian Murder Complex trilogy. Cummings blended science fiction and mystery into this futuristic Floridian thriller. This in Lindsay Cummings debut novel and I quickly devoured it.
