*Scratches wrist* I absolutely loved The Hunt book one in this trilogy and was excited to begin The Prey. My plan was to read a few chapters and then continue with another ARC I was reading. Not! Fukuda plunges us right back into the tale and the pacing and world building held me captive and I literally consumed this in a few hours. This is such a terrifying and original tale. Fukuda is brilliant and I can barely wait for the final book.
The Harvesting by Melanie Karsak
When I finished this book I just sat back with my mouth hanging open and basked in its glow. Labeled as horror or zombie book, The Harvesting is so much more. Karsak has blended lore, paranormal creatures and fantasy into this post-apocalyptic zombie infested world. The tale is gripping and I became completely enthralled. This may very well be one of my top ten reads for 2013 and I cannot wait for the next book.
The Intercept by Dick Wolf
When I was approached to review The Intercept, I thought I recognized this authors’ name. We are huge fans of the Law and Order television shows and I was immediately excited. Wolf delivered an action packed crime thriller that kept me riveted in this chillingly realistic scenario that take place over the July fourth weekend in the city that never sleeps; New York. I consumed this over the course of two evenings and cannot wait for the next Jeremy Fisk novel.
Slated by Teri Terry
Slated is Teri Terry’s debut novel and it offers up a clever and rather terrifying dystopian world where those whom the government claims are terrorist are offered a second chance by having their memories erased. This process is called Slating. This chilling novel kept me captivated with its strong protagonist and suspenseful plot.
Taming Her Forbidden Earl by Catherine Hemmerling
I love a deliciously good Regency romance, wrapped in mystery with lovable characters and a feisty heroine and Taming Her Forbidden Earl delivered just that and more. The first in the Lady Lancaster Garden Society series Hemmerling had me laughing, sighing and completely wrapped up in this fast paced tale.
