Mayhem by Sarah Pinborough takes us to the streets of London’s East end during the period of Jack the Ripper and exposes a darker killer known as the “torso killer” Steeped in horror with a paranormal twist this was a riveting tale. Mini review: dark, scary and captivating.
Dangerous Refuge by Elizabeth Lowell
Dangerous Refuge was my first read by author Elizabeth Lowell. One of my favorite genres is romantic suspense, and while the romance developed a little too quickly it was a captivating mystery. Mini review: Suspenseful, strong characters and an interesting murder mystery.
Desperate and Deceptive by Jayne Castle
Desperate and Deceptive: The Guinevere Jones Collection Volume 1 by Jayne Castle brings us the first two books in the Guinevere Jones series previously published as a four book series. As a fan of Castle, I was delighted to see these books republished since they have been out of print for some time, and my library didn’t have them. I have come to love Castle’s futuristic books but loved these straight romantic suspense stories. Mini review: Gritty PI stories with a dynamic duo that made me laugh and stole my heart.
When the Rogue Returns by Sabrina Jeffries
I adore Sabrina Jeffries brand of historical fiction from her head-strong heroines to her swoon-worthy heroes, and the Duke’s Men series has become one of my favorites. When the Rogue Returns is the second book, and it offered up an engaging plot and lovable characters. Mini review: Suspenseful, romantic and captivating I consumed this in a single afternoon.
Come to Me Quietly by A.L. Jackson
Come to Me Quietly is the first book in the new adult series Closer to You and my first read by author A.L. Jackson. I can assure you it will not be my last. Breathtaking beautiful I became swept up in this sweet, emotional read. Told from dual perspectives I fell in love with Jared and Aleena. Mini review: beautiful and touching this friendship to lover’s romance held me spellbound.
