A chance meeting leads to a wild ride in this irresistible audio-first romance by Audie Award-nominated author Molly Harper!
Lia Doe came to Mystic Bayou for one simple reason: to get her job done. Namely, to build a housing complex for all the new residents flocking to town since word of its supernatural population got out. But from the moment Lia arrives, itās clear that nothing about the job is going to be simple.
First, thereās the mysterious guy she meets in the middle of the night while theyāre both cavorting in their alternate forms. Spending time with shape-shifters is nothing new to Lia, but thereās something special about Jon Carmodyā¦and the magical pull she feels whenever heās near. Thereās also a sense of homecoming and belonging in Mystic Bayou that makes her want to stick around - despite the dangers brewing from mysterious forces.
Will Lia complete her project with her heart unscathed, or will her life shift forever?
I love spending time in Mystic Bayou and was excited to return. In Shifters in the Night, Lia Doe has arrived with her employer, New Ground Construction, to build a housing complex as Mystic Bayou’s population explodes. A midnight stroll in shifter form leads to her first encounter with Jon Carmody. And what a meet & greet it is. Despite the awkwardness, the two soon develop feelings for each other. Misunderstandings and bad timing cause bumps in the relationship.
For Lia, Mystic Bayou soon feels like home. When she finds herself in trouble, her new friends step in to aid her. While they could have resolved the drama with a conversation, the suspense thread was well done and eventually pushed the romance.
Because this is a novella, the romance got little page time and shifted into the insta category. However, I love the series and enjoyed seeing familiar characters and new ones. Harper still made the romance feel genuine, and I enjoyed myself.
Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis narrate offering alternate chapters in Lia and Jon’s perspectives. I love Amanda and Jonathan. They have created unique voices for each of the characters and making listening a pleasure. I do wish that Jonathan made Jon’s voice slightly different. His insecurities came out more like he was a bumbling idiot with the chosen tone and pitch for his character.
This was another enjoyable story in the Mystic Bayou series and I look forward to more adventures in this strange little town.

I have this one to listen to soon. Iāve discovered audiobooks at my library and Iām non stop listening to all the books I wanted to read but refused to pay big prices for. I read about half of your review as I didnāt want to know more yet.

I too really enjoy this series. I like that this one seems to be setting up the next storyarc/villain. It will be interesting to see how it all comes down. Overall, I enjoyed this one, but also agree that the romance wasn’t developed as nicely as some of the others. Thanks for the review!

I missed that another book came out. Bummed it’s only a novella but excited for more just the same. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

I haven’t read the series and I don’t like listening to audiobooks but this does sound like a series that I might like.

I enjoy this series too. Not as much as Harper’s other series, Half-Moon Hollow, but still a lot of fun. Wonderful review.

Oh dear, not a fan of the novelette, less still, insta romance/love, perhaps this isn’t one for me. Glad you enjoyed it though.

Glad it was another fun installment of the series. I enjoy both the narrators, too.

This a series I have been meaning to start, but time does not permit. Hopefully one day.

Somehow I haven’t managed to read this series yet. I’m a big fan of the author’s other series.
