If they think he's wild now, they haven't seen anything...

Years ago former Grey Wolf Jared Black took the fall for a murder and was driven from his pack. Now he's the mysterious criminal cowboy wolf known only as The Rogue. He's a fierce protector of vulnerable loners, but now that a vampire threat endangers all wolves, he must confront the pack again, including the only woman he's ever loved.

Maeve Gray has her own battles to fight. Pack duties dictate her every move—and she's sick of it. Ever since she escaped the clutches of her pack's enemies, her one goal has been defeating the bloodsucking monsters for good. But each passing day further risks the lives of her friends and family. Mae needs a solution—and fast—so when The Rogue shows up on the Grey Wolf ranch, offering everything Mae's heart desires, she has no choice but to trust him. But for this cowgirl, sleeping with the enemy could prove as deadly as it is desirable...

howlinggood well written paranormal ROMANCE

Wicked Cowboy Wolf by Kait Ballenger offered a sexy, dangerous Rogue who protects the innocent but can Mae heal the deep wounds he carries? Ballenger delivers an addictive tale with characters you’ll want to throttle and soothe all at the same time.

This is the third novel in the Seven Range Shifters paranormal romance series. While each book contains one couple and an HEA, it is important to note there is an overall threat and story ARC that is best appreciated in the series order release.

If you read my last review, you’ll remember the wolf known as The Rogue and Mae Gray had a brief encounter and I felt some kind of connection? Oh baby, you have no idea!

In this book we learn the identity of the mysterious wolf known only as The Rogue. If you are like me and avoid the synopsis for spoilers, I won’t reveal it here. Mae and the Gray Wolves are trying to secure alliances with other packs now that the Crazy Eight have a serum that could threaten them all. The Rogue shows up and offers Mae a chance to save her pack; she accepts and leaves in the middle of an attack with him.

The tale that unfolds shares the story of the rogue wolves, the serum and the Rogue himself. We also learn more about Mae, and her upbringing. Her childhood experiences may be triggers for some readers. It is not graphic and briefly touched upon. View Spoiler »

I loved the characters we meet, especially those who make up the Rogue’s misfit family. The banter and chemistry between Mae and the Rogue was off the charts. Secrets and age old wounds often stood in the way. I confess there were times I wanted all revealed, but I also understood the need to be seen. The whole romance tugged at my heartstrings even as parts frustrated me.

I have to mention the horses again; I love the personalities the author gives them. She made me laugh with their shenanigans, especially the barn scenes.

The “serum” while an integral part of the story ended up moving off page as the romance, and Rogue’s plans for the Gray pack took center stage. The last chapters were intense before Ballenger pulled things together and I closed the story with a smile.

Fans of shifters and paranormal romance will enjoy Wicked Cowboy Wolf and the Seven Range Shifters series.

There is just not enough western paranormals out there, and I have seen this author around but haven’t picked her up and I am changing that NOW!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.

Hmm! Whilst I tend to enjoy Paranormal novels (though it would appear I’ve had my fill of them … at least for now) I tend to shy away from Paranormal Romances. Maybes something I need to get over, I’m just not convinced that this would be the book/series with which to begin …

really like the Howling good pic! Is there one for Vampires? You know a book is good when even the horses get a mention!
