Fate Chose Us is the complete collected edition of my three books published in 2016 - Stranded With You, Introducing Us, and Finding Our Way.

Becca - a shy, lonely set decorator - and Jon - a confident, gorgeous, and famous actor: stranded together on location in the middle of nowhere for an entire weekend, with no way to call for help. How can such a thing happen in the twenty-first century? But it does, giving both of them the chance to let someone special into their carefully guarded lives . . . to fall in love. As utterly different as they are, fate takes Becca and Jon through the highest and lowest points of an improbable love story that neither of them could have foreseen.

If you loved Notting Hill, you are going to love Fate Chose Us.

Sweet newadult ROMANCE

Fate Chose Us by Barbara L.B. Storey is a collection of three stories, Stranded With You, Introducing Us, and Finding Our Way. It shares the love story of Becca a young set designer and Jon, an established actor who by chance or fate find themselves stranded together. The collection shares their beginnings and takes them through heartache as they embark on their relationship.

In the first section, Stranded With You, Becca finds herself trapped at a remote location outside of London when her car won’t start. Jon, an actor on the production they were both working on awakens under an old oak to discover he too, has been left behind. Storey, shares their weekend, as they et leftover caterer food, build a makeshift tent and awaken to each other. The two spend a magical, sexual weekend together and realize this is more than a weekend fling. Neither has had serious relationships and are skeptics when it comes to fate and love. Their banner, seeing Becca experience firsts and watching their romance bud reminding me of first love.

In the second part, Stranded With You, they head home to London and face skepticism from family and friends as they continue their relationship. Awkward first moments, hostile besties and the newness share the pages as these two enjoy many firsts before tragedy threatens to break them. The story is a unique combination of  “clean romance” and heat allowing these accounts to settle in the New Adult genre minus the drama. They are heartfelt, and the characters emotions felt genuine.

The third part, Finding Our Way was emotional as these two dealt with loss, guilt, and uncertainty. I loved that family and friends (well most) were supportive, and it was nice seeing a young unjaded, naive couple grow and trust. At times tearful I became caught up in their story. The author offers a sexy and spiritual epilogue that hints at things to come wrapping up their story enough to satisfy those who need closure.

Fate Chose Us is a new adult romance with a wholesome, coming of age feel that tugs at your heartstrings and heats your Kindle.

I used to hate romantic stories but nowadays I catch myself actually enjoying them. This one sounds really nice, I like stories with characters of completely different personalities. 🙂

  2. Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

The synopsis had me at the Notting Hill comparison. 🙂 I’m actually not usually a fan of short stories, but packaged this way I imagine it feels more like one cohesive story. I enjoyed your review, Kim!

  3. Trish @ Between My Lines

I’m not a fan of short stores, but as these all feature the same characters, then I’d be ok in this case. I’m a bit intrigued by your mention of spiritual epilogue. Plus I love that it balances wholesome with heat.

Glad you liked this one! I hadn’t heard of it before. I do like the idea that the book is told in three short stories, but following the same couple.

It looks good there and it’s been a while since I haven’t read a NA story. Why not? In any case I didn’t know about this one.
