Favorite Bookish Things

Caffeinated is celebrating its six-year blogoversary and today I am sharing six of my favorite bookish things. This list was a little harder than I thought. Obviously, I love my book collection, particularly my first editions and signed copies. It’s a given I have mad love for Caffeinated and all the gadgets and plug-ins that come with it.  The list below shares things I enjoy that are totally bookish and not something a non-book person would necessarily enjoy. Hopefully, you can relate. Grab a cup of your favorite caffeinated ice beverage and enjoy!

I’ve linked to Amazon using my affiliate links. Please be aware that I earn a few pennies if you decide you want these for your own and use my links.

My Kindle(s)

kindle oasis I own both the Oasis and the Fire Kindle. Honestly, I  couldn’t image life without them. Aside from reading ARCs, I love reading eBooks when the only other option is Mass Market Paperback. I struggle with the tiny print and bulky weight of them especially since I am known to three hours a day reader. I take my Oasis with me everywhere and love having a library in my purse! It has wonderful features including its own built-in cover and can be used in full sunlight. Read my review of the Oasis  My kindle fire is nice since it works better for books with images. Like cookbooks and it also allows me to listen to my audiobooks and stream Netflix.

My Bose QuietComfort 35 Bluetooth Wireless

Bose

Can I just say BEST PURCHASE EVER! I began listening to audiobooks on my smartphone about 3 years ago, and have listened to almost two hundred books. Before I bought these babies, I was using earbuds. First corded and then wireless. Both didn’t block outside noise and aren’t the most comfortable thing for a two-hour listen. I kept adding the Bose to my cart on Amazon and taking them back out. I even went to Best Buy and tested them.  I then read review after review and finally just bit the bullet and bought them. This was quite an investment, but one I have never for a minute regretted. I love that they fold up and come with their own carrying case. I get 20 hours between characters and the sound quality is fantastic. The best part is the world-class noise cancellation. I can cut the lawn, do dishes and sit in the same room with my son while he plays video games. I loved them so much, I bought my hubby a pair for his birthday this year. He loves them.

My Harry Potter Book Collection

Harry Potter Collection Call me a kid, but I adore the Harry Potter series and ordered all of the books upon their release. Our hardcovers are well loved as all of my children and even my husband have read them. I began collecting the illustrated editions and absolutely adore them. I’ve already ordered book three as a birthday present to myself. Of course, I own all of the movies and got my first Funko Pop of Harry Potter. I want them all. This year I am listening to the series for the first time on audio with Jim Dale and it’s fantastic! I am hoping to one day collect the British versions of the series. Below are links to Amazon for the illustrated series. They are oversized and gorgeous!

Snuggling with a book & a mug of coffee

coffee and a bookPerhaps one of my favorite things is my time with a book and hot cup of coffee. In the winter, I love to cozy up near the fire with a snuggly blanket, a good pillow for my back and a coffee within reach. It’s the little things in life. Right. While I enjoy reading on the beach or poolside at a resort it is those quiet times at home that I favor the most. Add a rumbling thunderstorm or perhaps a bit of snow and there is no place in the world I would rather be. Below are links to my favorite blanket. I bought the twin size since it is longer than a regular throw and perfect for cold nights. The coffee mug set contains oversized mugs. Just the way I like them. The colors with polka-dots are whimsical. I love bookish throw pillows and this one says it all!

My Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker

Waterproof SpeakerDon’t laugh at me, but I NEVER miss an opportunity to be in a book. Until I was gifted this waterproof speaker listening in the shower wasn’t an option. I adore this little baby. It’s just the right size and sits atop my shower doors. I connect it to my smartphone and listen to audiobooks while showering. I can also use it with my jet tub and don’t have to worry about getting pages wet or electrocuting myself!  It is heavenly. I only need to charge it about once a month and even use it on the back deck. Of course, you can listen to tunes as well, but this book lover uses it solely for audiobooks. Check out the APIE Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker It has over 290 five star reviews. ( I was going to take an actual photo of mine, but it’s all the waaaaay upstairs and I cannot seem to remember to do it. OK, fine I am lazy)

Book Swag and Collectables

Book SwagI adore bookmarks, buttons, t-shirts, and gadgets from my favorite stories. From my Harry Potter wand to my Royal Mercantile T-shirt from The Veil by Chloe Neill.  I squee over these little things. I picked up my wand at Diagon Alley in Univeral Studios in Florida. My husband still tells folks he had to buy passes to both parks for his wife.  Pictured are buttons I picked up at events or was sent in the mail, bookmarks both gifted and collected. (I have more tote bags full!)  I won a Diana inspired perfume from Discovery of Witches and saved the bottle. I have Avon wine glasses, pins and please don’t even get me started on totes. My totes have totes and I am always on the lookout for more! Even my journals, socks and decor are book inspired. Like my Mulder’s Map and Poe Raven.

My kindle Paperwhite, my skull candy earphones, my audible app on my phone and the porch in the summer, the cozy nook of the couch in the winter. It’s all I need and I’m grateful to have them! This is a grand site!
…….might have to take a look at those Bose headphones…..

  2. Karen Blue

Great list! I too love snuggling with a good book and a mug of coffee. Thanks for sharing, and the chance to win that pillow!

  3. Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)

Haven’t had time till now to stop by and comment on your “six” posts, which I love the idea! I might have to invest in that waterproof speaker for my own shower! I’ve got a Nook, which I love, and I’ve come to really also love my Kindle app on my iphone for when I want to read and don’t have my Nook or an actual book. Plus, I can also sneak reading in at times when it might be rude otherwise, because people think I’m just Facebooking or something else. 🙂 Happy 6th blogoversary again!

  4. Darlene

My favourite bookish thing is definitely my iPod! My iPhone doesn’t have enough memory (only 8 gigs) for books, so I had to buy a new iPod Touch and I love it. I’m balking at the price for the Bose Headphones, but I am tired of being strangled by my earbud cord!! Cordless would be so nice…Santa, are you listening??

  5. Lorna

My Kindles are probably my favorite thing I own, well that and my IPhone. So I can definitely relate. I have ear phones like that(not that brand) and I just didn’t like the weight on my ears. I think I need to check out cordless buds though. I am not sure I knew they made them? That would be great on a long car trip.

  6. John Smith

Well, I had a gilded little curlicue bookmark that I got as a birthday present in middle school. I should have kept it, but who knows what happens to things….

  7. Carla

I could not live without my kindle either <3 it's just so good being able to carry around so many books in one little thing!! (my back thanks me for not dragging actual books with me around the subway)

  8. ShootingStarsMag

Love these. I have a Kindle Paperwhite, but it works for me. I love being able to read e-books now even though physical copies will always be my favorite. And I LOVE all my Harry Potter things; the illustrated copies are beautiful.

  9. Lark

What a great list! I love my Kindles. I don’t read much on my Fire, but my Paperwhite gets a good workout every day, and for much the same reason as you: my eyes are having a harder time with the smaller print of many mass market paperbacks. (In fact, I’m pruning my paperback book collections and replacing with Kindle books as I can afford to.) I also love my iPod Classic and my iPhone for listening to audiobooks, but I should probably invest in a good set of headphones. And I love curling up with tea and a good book.

  10. Aleen

My favorite bookish thing is my Kindle as well. One year ago I would have told you that I prefer print books over e-books. But I love the fact that I can highlight passages and take notes, without damaging the book itself. 🙂

  11. Veronika B

I love my e-reader, too! I have a Kindle Paperwhite and I take it everywhere with me. I love that I can have my whole library with me all the time. I also buy physical books a lot, if I loved them as an ebook.

  12. Megan

I love ny kindle as well. I seem to read mostly on it now and rarely pick up a paperback.

  13. Laura Thomas

So many to choose from. I’d say my Kindle Paperwhite and Fire and all bookish swag from pillows to gadgets, to shirts.

  14. Michelle Gilmore

My favorite bookish thing would be my Harry Potter collection too. I have two bookcases dedicated to my Harry POtter and Star Wars books and it’s my favorite part of the house. I’m instantly calm and happy when I look at them. I’m all for others expanding their collections too, it’s so much fun.
I recently purchased some over the ear headphones for $5 because I’m still convincing myself over the Bose pair, and they are actually really good. It was a nice surprise for a dollar store find.

  15. Erin

Great list! My kindle, book swag and Harry Potter collections are among my favorites as well 🙂

  16. Sue

I love the sound of the waterproof wifi speakers. I listen to audio books all the time and now I need these! Happy Blogversary.

  17. Stacy Renee

There are so many things I could choose but I think my #1 bookish thing is the Where the Wild Things Are figurine of the horned monster that my mother bought me when I was a kid. It’s been hiding away in it’s battered box for years now. I’ll have to take it down and get some pictures of it soon!
I ordered the third illustrated Harry Potter book for my birthday as well, though I’ll get it a bit late! 🙂

  18. Jaime Lester

I absolutely couldn’t survive without my Kindles and the apps on mine and my hubby’s phones. NO way. And my HP collection needs to be encased in bulletproof glass I love it so much!

  19. RO

My goodness, when you total it all up, that number for posted reviews is pretty awesome! I don’t have all the books, but I do have every Harry Potter DVD, along with the toys and posters. I love these “6” posts that you’ve been doing. Super fun!

  20. Fran

That is an amazing giveaway, you lucky US peeps!

Thanks for sharing your favourite bookish things, Kimberly!

  21. Aly P

I love my fire, and I bought a 2nd one in case it dies as most of my ereaders have done 😀 I also love my autographed books and swag <3

  22. Carole

I love my kindles! I have 5 kindles…I am not even kidding. I also have a samsung tablet. I have issues. I love, love, love my Bose headphones! My aren’t wireless but they go back and forth to work with me everyday. I spend a lot of time with them attached to my head.

  23. Susan

I love a cat snuggling with me while I listen to good audiobook. I’ve also grown quite fond of adult coloring books while I listen to an epic fantasy or murder mystery or space opera.

  24. Dianne Casey

My Kindle Paperwhite is my favorite “bookish” thing. It’s amazing something so little can hold so many great books.

  25. Linda Romer

One of my favorite bookish things is notepads and pens. I love to jot done notes on the books I’ve read and want to read. thank you

  26. Corinne

My favorite bookish thing is my kindle paper white! It’s my single most best purchase ever. It’s my favorite e-reader by far. I love having thousands of books at my fingertips & it’s so light. Love it!!

  27. Rita

I love my Kindles– Paperwhite and Fire, each has its own purpose, since my eyes are getting worse and my hands are messed up, it beats holding a large book open and flipping pages. Follow-up favorite bookish “thing” is my local library– where would I be without those free books?!

Thanks for the rec on the Bose headphones. My husband is almost deaf now and he uses ear buds when on pc or Kindle Fire. This would make an awesome Christmas gift!

  28. Cali W.

Great giveaway; books, coffee, and rain is a perfect combo. 😉

  29. Nise'

My husband has been wanting the headphones and I just may get them for his big Christmas present. I love my Kindle Fire, especially how it can be used by the entire family.

  30. Paij

such a fun post!! I think my favorite bookish thing right now are my audio books. I would love to be able to sit down all day and read every day, but it just isn’t possible. This way I can have a book with me all the time. I love my Kindle as well, but I am still very old school. There is nothing better to me than being able to turn the pages of a book. I love the covers and yes the smell (I know, I am weird) and the trips to the book store. They all just make me happy.

  31. blodeuedd

OMG yes on the headphones! I had these stupid ones and then the bay started to play with the cord. So bluetooth all the way now

  32. Danielle Hammelef

One of my favorite bookish things is also my Harry Potter collection. I read these books to my three daughters and cherish the time we spent together, sometimes reading outside in the shade on the lawn.

  33. Sophia Rose

Love your book favorites list. The sound cancelling cordless headphones are on my wishlist for now. I love my Kindle, too, and yes, totes & swag stuff is fun. I have a soft and warm throw that is perfect for me in cold temp reading times. I do love my pyramid pillow that my husband got me to prop up heavier hardcovers or my kindle in my lap.

Wow! Love seeing your posting stats. You’ve had some really productive blogging years.

  34. Angela

A few of my favorite bookish things: My iPad Mini which gives me all my reading apps ^_^. A mug of coffee or tea and my Skullcandy Ink’d headphones.

  35. Geybie's Book Blog

I’m planning to buy Kindle Oasis this month or early next month. Need to read your review first though. My old kindle died last year and I bought an iPad. The iPad has been great but I miss kindle. The battery is awesome. Anyway, your Bose QuietComfort looks great. Thanks for sharing these, Kim. ❤️

  36. Kristin (Book Sniffers Anonymous)

I only have one Kindle… and one Nook. LoL Although the Mister uses the Nook now and I use the Kindle. So, it works out. You’re right though, I couldn’t imagine my life without it. I still remember the days when I’d fly across the country with a backpack full of hardcover books from the library. It was brutal.

  37. Debbie Haupt

Oh I love bookish things I have some really cute bookmarks that I got from Gonereading, I love my kindle paperwhite and fire and even my iphone where I can read and listen to my books. Thanks for the fab prizes you’re offering this week and the six years of friendship with you! <3

  38. Steph

I love my booking collectables like figures and wands and goodies like that they add to my book shelves 🙂 Thank you for sharing your list!

  39. Rosie

I love all these comfy things, especially on a rainy or snowy day, it makes everything even more fav! I don’t have any of that technology, but it sure sounds nice.

  40. Julie

My Kindle is one of my favorite bookish things. I saves my eyes from having to squint while reading tiny print or reading in the dark. lol! I have a Kindle paperwhite. It also really helps with my migraines. I can turn down the light if I need to. I STILL haven’t tried audiobooks but I’ve really been wanting to. I like to snuggle up with a good book, a fuzzy blanket and a cup of hot tea.

  41. Hermorene Douglas

Since I don’t often carry a purse, my favorite bookish thing is my Samsung Galaxy S7. I can read on my kindle app or listen to my audio books. It’s like carrying a library in my pocket.

  42. Jenea's Book Obsession

I have Beat by Dre earphones, that I attempt to use for audio books, but I fail at audio books. 🙁 But your Bose earphone are pretty awesome! Now I do Love my Kindle Fire, I like that I can enlarge the print. Getting older sucks. lol….

  43. Sarah's Book Shelves

Oooh – I might need those Bose headphones! Are they noise canceling also? Like if I don’t want to listen to anything….just put them on to cancel out noise (like in the pedicure place when I’m trying to read!)…do they do that?

  44. Christine

Oh no laughing from me — I have a shower speaker for audiobooks (and bookish podcasts) too!! Phew, now I know I’m not the only one 🙂

  45. Christy LoveOfBooks

Haha The page scrolled too fast and for a split second I thought there was a bong in the last picture. Obviously I need sleep. 😀 I can’t wear headphones like that. I don’t like not being able to hear around me. I even listen with one ear without the earbud. No one is sneaking up on me! lol. Seriously, though, great list.

  46. Kathryn

My fav bookish thing really is my Kindle Paperwhite, where would I be without it because I can buy so many books from the U.S. that I would never be able to access otherwise. But I love everything bookish. I like the idea of your Bose headphones – I have heard of them they are meant to be the best. In the meantime back to my ear buds!!
