Lina Gardiner’s Gift of Prophecy is a post-apocalyptic tale filled with strange creatures, a fearless girl, a prophecy and two brothers who must overthrow a ruthless ruler to save the world. Gardiner captured my attention from the first pages and held me riveted as she painted this world and brought her characters to life. Mini review: Captivating, colorful and action-packed.
Chasing the Green Fairy is the second installment in Melanie Karsak’s Airship Racing Chronicles and what an emotional journey it was. From sabotaged airships, death, secret realms and decisions Karsak completely drew me in. Mini review: personal demons, heartbreak, beautiful, sweet and engaging.
Wind Chime Café is the first in the Wind Chime series by Sophie Moss. From the setting to the characters I slid right into this feel good tale. Moss delivered an engaging tale with few twists and characters that wrapped around my heart. In 2013, I participated in a tour and reviewed the Harvesting by new author Melanie Karsak. It was a zombie, post-apocalyptic tale that also blended in fantasy elements. The world-building and story left me in awe. So I was delighted to receive a new book from Karsak entitled Chasing the Star Garden. The first in the Airship Racing Chronicles, Chasing the Star Garden, is a steampunk fantasy featuring an opium eating heroine and an ancient treasure linked to the Greek Gods. In July, I reviewed Tin God the first book in Stacy Green’s Delta Crosswords romantic suspense series and enjoyed it. I was eager to begin Cage’s story in, Skeleton’s Key. While this is book two, each of the novels work as a standalone. Once again Green delivered a gripping murder mystery in the heart of Mississippi. A historic plantation, secret rooms, murder and a side dish of romance had me flipping the pages to uncover the truth. Mini review: fascinating, suspenseful. Small-town charm and a little romance made this an entertaining read.
