I was very fortunate to receive an advanced finished copy of Symbiont by Mira Grant. It is the second book in her Parasitology series that started as a duology and is now a trilogy!! After the release of Parasite, Grant’s fans demanded more. Fans wanted more details, fleshed-out characters and world building. Grant obliged and I am ever so grateful. Symbiont changed my perception, raised questions, and had me holding my breath as we plunged deeper into this apocalyptic nightmare.
Sky Pirates by Liesel Schwarz
I was a little nervous starting Sky Pirates the third book in Liesel Schwarz’s Chronicles of Light and Shadow. The second book, A Clockwork Heart, left me frustrated, but wow Sky Pirates brought back all of the elements I loved in A Conspiracy of Alchemists. Action packed, with lovable characters this steampunk has us traveling the world, and engaging in battles. The heroine Elle Chance is fantastic. She is kick-ass and determined. I don’t recommend crossing her.
Mitosis by Brandon Sanderson
Mitosis is a mini-story set between Steelheart and Firelight books in the Reckoners series by Brandon Sanderson. MacLeod Andrews narrate the audio and he nailed David. While the story is only one hour and three minutes long it has all the things I love about this series. Mitosis while small delivered an evil Epic, news about Newscago and plenty of action.
Lock In by John Scalzi
Do you ever start reading or listening to a book and almost immediately slip into the world and realize you are about to take an epic journey? That was my experience with the audio version of Lock In, the first book in the Lock In series by John Scalzi and narrated by Wil Wheaton. Lock In is a brilliantly told mystery crime thriller set in a futuristic science fiction world. The geek in me was completely giddy! The world was fascinating, frighteningly realistic and friggin cool my friends.
A Vault of Sins by Sarah Harian
I am thoroughly enjoying the Chaos Theory trilogy by Sarah Harian. A Vault of Sins the second book surpasses The Wicked We Have Done the first book. Harian notched up the science-fiction and intense action scenes. Twisted, government conspiracies and secret anti groups who expose the truth, along with an active cyber community kept me riveted.
