I love everything Chanel Cleeton has written from her contemporary romance to her Cuban inspired historical fiction and was delighted to see her delve into a gothic historical mystery with The House on Biscayne Bay. A suspenseful, atmospheric tale that held me captive from beginning to end.
I had ordered the ebook and was waiting to see if it would whispersync for audio, when Hearne offered me a code and I immediately dove in. I absolutely love Luke Daniels’ narration of Hearne’s stories and was excited to listen to both Dawson’s and Wendig’s offerings. At just under eight hours, you’ll want to add this to your audio library.
The Book of Ile-Rien by Martha Wells contains books one & two of Ile-Rien series, The Element of Fire & The Death of the Necromancer. These are a revised version and brilliantly told from troubles within the castle court to an embittered nobleman out for revenge. I completely lost myself in this world and stories.
Speculations in Sin by Jennifer Ashley is the seventh novel in the Below the Stairs Mystery series featuring amateur sleuth and cook Kat Holloway. Kat and her pose of friends, search for answers when Samuel Millburn, husband of the woman who looks after her daughter, is arrested. A fantastic tale with plenty of twists and orange sorbet.
Three Kinds of Lucky by Kim Harrison is the first audiobook in the Shadow Age urban fantasy series. Narrated by Marguerite Gavin, Harrison introduces us to Petra Grady, a sweeper in a magic filled world where spellwork creates waste. Fabulous world-building and an unthinkable accident made this an exciting start to this new series.
