AN OFFER FROM A GENTLEMAN by Julia Quinn is the third novel in the delightful historical romance series, Bridgertons. Quinn has fun with this tale delivering a fairy tale retelling of the classic Cinderella complete with an evil stepmother. I delighted in the story even if miscommunication frustrated me.
Snowspelled by Stephanie Burgis
SNOWSPELLED is a novella that begins the Harwood Spellbook fantasy series by Stephanie Burgis. This was a quick engaging read that sets up the series and introduces both the volatile world and strong female heroine. Magic, supernatural creatures and a dystopian world where men practice magic and women handle the political aspects from treaties to legislation.
The Witches of New York by Ami McKay
The gilded era – 1880 New York and the promise of three young witches drew me in and had me listening to THE WITCHES OF NEW YORK written by Ami McKay and narrated by Julia Whelan. McKay offered up a dark and curious tale that I enjoyed despite its meandering pace.
The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare
I adore Tessa Dare and her stories. THE DUCHESS DEAL is the first in her new series Girl Meets Duke and holy smokes this was hot. A damaged Duke, a Vicor’s daughter and a tale filled with snark, humor, heat and delicious page melting heat.
The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss
THE STRANGE CASE OF THE ALCHEMIST’S DAUGHTER written by Theodora Goss and narrated by Kate Reading was an addictive story featuring the daughters of some of Literature’s most famous science fiction and horror characters. Mystery, humor, and twists aplenty make this a worthy listen.
