To spice things up on Wednesdays between reviews, I am going to share ”Recipe and a Book Recommendations.” Today I am sharing a salad that is so easy to make the whole family can be involved. It’s yummy and nutritious. If you haven’t read Pierce Brown’s Red Rising fantasy trilogy you are in for a treat. Red Rising his debut novel rocked the reading world and offers a rich tale for young and old. It made Caffeinated’s top ten list for 2014 and won several awards. Golden Son the second in the trilogy released this week. I cannot recommend this series enough! From the writing to the world Brown weaved magic. You know that book you wish everyone would read? The Witches of Echo Park is the first in an urban fantasy series by Amber Benson. The tale unfolds in Los Angeles and introduces us to a unique cast of female witches and a plot to eliminate them all. Spells, ghosts, threats and a unique coven drew me in. While at times it felt like young adult, I am very curious to see how it unfolds.

As many of you know, Red Rising by Pierce Brown made my top ten list for 2014. Pierce blew me away with his masterful dynamic storytelling and descriptive world building. It was with trepidation that I began the second book, Golden Son. Could Brown continue to hold me captive in this brilliant world? The answer my friends is yes! Golden Son was stunning as Darrow and his motley crew of colors moved closer to freeing society from its chains. The story was intense, with panoramic views and a flawed hero worthy to be King.

I picked up The Invitation by Roxy Sloane for several reasons. It was free on kindle, the cover is hot and the synopsis mentioned a Brit and a pact not to screw a friendship up over a one-night stand. Who could resist? The Invitation is a short prequel to Surrender the first in the Invitation series and whoa, baby is this HOT.
