Welcome to Nonna’s Corner. Today I am sharing The Alphabet Bugs: An ABC Book by Valerie Gates and Ann Cutting. Grab a cup of coffee and check out my thoughts on this colorful, squirmy, tongue twister of a book.
Seveneves by Neal Stephenson
Seveneves by Neal Stephenson spans five thousand years from a catastrophic event that will doom Earth to man’s determination to save the human race. At eight hundred and eighty pages, this massive tome is filled with details that will excite your inner geek and for the most part, I was riveted.
Rescuing the Bad Boy by Jessica Lemmon
Rescuing the Bad Boy is the second novel in Jessica Lemmon’s Second Chance series and after the good time I had with Bringing Home the Bad Boy I knew I had to read the next installment. Boy Howdy am I am glad that I did. Donovan Pate made my heart do flip-flops and I wanted to kiss every one of his scars. Jessica Lemmon brings heat to this small-town romance series with fleshed out characters and a town readers will want to visit again and again.
Thicker Than Blood by Madeline Sheehan and Claire C. Riley
Some books just naturally translate to audio and suck the reader into their story. Thicker Than Blood by Madeline Sheehan and Claire C. Riley is one such novel. Narrated by C.J. Bloom I quickly became caught up in this post-apocalyptic zombie tale and the characters within. Friendship, survival and a world that seems to have lost its humanity Thicker Than Blood will help alleviate withdrawal symptoms for fans of the Walking Dead.
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
I was asked to do an early review of Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. While I usually avoid young adult contemporary romances, the premise for Everything, Everything immediately reminded me of The Boy in the Plastic Bubble, a 70’s movie starring John Travolta. Yoon delivered a wonderful tale with heart, a surprising twist and a slow burning romance.
