It was a wet week with some freeze warnings. Poor Clayton had what we thought was food poisoning, given how quickly it happened. He had a rough 12 hours before feeling better. Saturday Miss Hazel confirmed it was not in fact food poisoning, but viral. I felt so sorry for my daughters. Little ones and these types of viruses are horrible. I got behind on reviews and spent some time getting caught up. Not a very exciting week, but not terrible either. How do you all handle listening to audiobooks on NetGalley? My current listen has no chapters. The app won’t work in the car and you can only rewind in 30 sec increments. Never again. My daughter says I am an app snob. I guess. As always, Stay Caffeinated.

We had the freezing for a few days here too. I haven’t tried the audio on Netgalley yet. One thing that I’ve not enjoyed is Bookfunnel audiobooks because I have issues with my car not always connecting to it, and not getting the app actually on my car screen with the other audio apps. So I guess I’m an app snob too, lol. Have a good week, hope everyone gets to feeling better!

so sorry that the little one has a viral infection; it definitely is tough on them and on the parents too.. As for audiobooks, I have not yet ventured into them yet..

  3. sjhigbee

So sorry to hear of Clayton’s viral infection – those stomach upsets are truly horrible:(. Glad he’s on the mend again and hope he soon feels completely back to normal. Oh dear – I’m not sure what is going on with your Netgalley app – but I use it on my phone and it loads more easily than books do on my Kindle and I don’t get any of that kind of nonsense – there’s timers, variable speeds – the lot. So maybe you could try uninstalling it and reinstalling – because it shouldn’t be playing up like that. Have a great week, Kimberly:).

Sorry to hear the little ones have the viruses. Always hard to see them feel so poorly.
I have learned to not listen to my NG Audios in the car. I have another audio going for that so I can just listen to NG without that app hassle.
I hope you start getting warmer weather soon.
    Happy Reading!

Those stomach bugs can be so swift, and so nasty. Good thing they rarely last very long!

I haven’t tried NG’s audiobooks yet. Are they all like that? If so, I’m not trying them anytime soon.

Hope you are having good weather, and that everyone feels better this week!

Those viral stomach bugs are the worst and they seem to just fly from kid to kid to unlucky adult! I haven’t tried any audiobooks on NetGalley kind of because I was afraid of the issues you mention. I think I’m an app snob too! Have a great week!

I hope the royals are going to feel much better this week. We are getting thunderstorms this afternoon but then not much rain in the forecast until Mother’s Day. I am an equal opportunity audiobook app user. I have 16 audiobook apps on my phone. I definitely have those I like much better than others. I haven’t noticed a big problem with the Netgalley app. The one from Penguin audio is my least favorite since it doesn’t work well with earbud controls. I also wish Audible had more features. I’m getting used to Libby but still love Overdrive which has some features not in Libby. I like Hoopla and Libro and Chirp. iTunes/ Apple books requires a lot of setup so I’ve switched to a new app, Book Mower.

Lol. I’m the first to admit I’m an app snob. 😀 I don’t, however, use NetGalley. When I want to listen to an audiobook, my first choice is Libby. If Libby doesn’t have it, then I try Hoopla. One way or another I can almost always find the books I want to read those ways, except for the newest books. I know that’s not the same as NetGalley’s purpose, though. I hope you and your family have a happy, healthy week! 🙂

  9. A Voracious Reader

Poor babies! I heard it’s making the rounds of the schools. Eek. I haven’t tried audios on NetGalley so I’m no help. I hope you have a great week, Kim!

  10. Angela (Angel's Guilty Pleasures)

I dislike when an app is difficult as well. It needs to be user-friendly if not it’s very frustrating; especially with audiobooks. I’ve not done a NetGalley ARC audiobook. I only use Audible, Hoopla, and Libby for audios.

It’s never fun to be sick, but especially when it’s a fast bug that makes you really sick. Hope they are feeling better. Take care and happy reading!

  11. Rachel @Waves of Fiction

Kids get sick so often when they’re young! Poor things! Glad to hear they’re on the mend. My app for NG works in the car. Yeah, the rewind can be tricky.

I think I might get that Diana Palmer anthology and I have to read The Bride Wore White for review this next week. As usual cutting it close, lol.

  12. Laurel-Rain Snow

Oh, your poor grandkids! Viruses are the worst.

I can’t do audiobooks in any format, but I can’t imagine doing an ARC that way.

    Enjoy your week!

  13. Lover of Romance

haha I refuse to do audiobooks now on Netgalley because of the app. ITs awful!! I even have issues with the Audible app. The best ones are Anyplay, Libby and Hoopla. Your weather is opposite of ours haha I hope you end up enjoying that diana palmer though!!!

  14. Stormi

Oh no, I hate stomach viruses! Hope they are both better now. I don’t mind Netgalley Audios but I only listen to them in my home usually in the early morning, I call them my wake up audios…lol. I don’t get a lot of them though but that is how I deal with them.

I’m sorry to hear your family has been struck with a stomach virus. I hope everything is better now. I don’t mind the Netgalley audiobook app but I don’t listen to books when I’m in the car. I hope the weather improves for you. Have a great week!

  16. S. J. Pajonas

Yeah, no, I wouldn’t want to listen to a book like that either. I need chapters and the ability to jump around, if need be. Sorry to hear about the sickness. I hate when stomach bugs take down everyone in the house. The worst!

I hope everyone is feeling better! I’ve never listened to NetGalley audio books but that would annoy me also. Happy reading this week.

  18. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Poor Clayton! I hope he’s feeling better now! I have honestly never listened to audiobooks with Netgalley…or at all really. Sorry! Maybe it was just a glitchy audiobook. I know sometimes the regular digital arcs I get are always random when it comes to formatting. Sometimes the chapter markers are perfectly there, other times they are not. I know they’re a hot mess when I get the real physical copy later and there’s page breaks and everything!

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

I am so sorry the grandkids have been so poorly Kimberly! And so far I have never been granted an audio on Netgalley but your experience won’t motivate me to try again either LOL

  20. Lori Caswell

I had sick grands this week too but it was croup and strep. Funny it didn’t slow them down much at all.
I hope this week is better for all the kids and you too.

  21. Greg

Oh no about Clayton! I’m glad he’s feeling better. Poor guy. It’s still cold here, we did hit 60’s today before it rained and the temp dropped again. sigh.
