It was a busy week with meetings, kids and this nagging funk I am in. It has been dark and cold, which doesn’t help. I’ve been binge watching shows. I am all caught up on SEALS, devoured the first season of Fire Country and started Scorpion. We’ve been watching season three of Scarlet and the Duke and I binge watched Lockwood & Co today since it was below thirteen degrees for most of the day. I’ve been blowing through audiobooks as well. I am on a bit of a mystery/crime binge and going with the flow. However, I also listened to a fantastic witchy/magical realism audiobook called Weyward. It releases in March and I highly recommend it. Stay Caffeinated.

Sorry to hear about the funk, Kimberly – it’s always tough when those hit during the winter. Thank goodness for good shows and wonderful books! I have Lockwood & Co on my radar as I listened to the audiobooks several years ago and absolutely loved it. Thank you for the recommendation regarding Weyward – and I hope this is a kinder week for you.
Lorna
What channels are you watching? I’ve only heard of one of those shows. Sorry about the funk. I guess your weather there makes it really hard. It 57 here right now but then tomorrow we get the bad cold stuff again. We have had zero snow this year. It’s crazy. Hope you are okay!
Nikki - Notes of Life
I’ve read the first of the Lockwood & Co books, but hadn’t realised there was a TV series until this weekend. I’ll have to check it out!
Melliane
Some nice things for you. Have a good week and happy reafing!
Katherine
I don’t go outside if the temperature is below 50. I’m very much a weather wimp. I have Scarlet and the Duke on my To Watch list and I’m curious about Lockwood and Co. I liked the first book and have been meaning to continue with the series. Have a wonderful week!
MarthaE
I would hide inside if my weather was that cold. I hope things warm up for you.
Looks like you are having good reading and watching. I’ll look for Weyward. Have a good week and Happy Reading!
Bookworm
Enjoy your books and the shows this week. Reading and binge watching are perfect this time of the year.
Emma @ Words And Peace
Good luck with the weather. February is the month with most snow around Chicago, and yeah we are getting there!

I just watched The Rig on Amazon Video. It was pretty good. I still need to watch Scorpion.
vidya
hope it brightens up a bit for you…. and I am still not able to really get into audiobooks though I hoped I could…we have been doing some binge-watching as well (with Midsomer Murders and Better Call Saul – finally got started on this after hearing so much about it)
Cindy Davis
We loved Scorpion! I hope you enjoy it as well. Sorry about the funk you are in, the weather does that to me sometimes too. I hope you enjoy these latest additions to your reading collection. Have a great week!
Sophia Rose
Bummer about the funk. Wishing you some gorgeous sunshine and a rise in temps. We’ve got the low temps, too, and I don’t linger outside. Been hitting the audios and books hard, too.
Have a good week, Kimberly!
Jinjer
Sounds like you have read and watched a lot of interesting stuff this week! Sorry the dang funk continues!
Tanya @Girl Plus Books
Oh my goodness, that sounds bitterly cold in your area. As much as I love cold weather, it is a novelty for me and never lasts long. I’m not sure how well I would handle an extended period of dark, drear and cold.
Rachel @Waves of Fiction
Dark, cold and dreary weather can have an effect. Hope you get out of your funk, Kimberly. I’ve been trying to get outside when it’s warm enough, but 13 degrees is too cold! Fun shows and audiobooks do definitely help.

Thanks so much for the Weyward recommendation. I want to read more magical realism, especially books that have witches in them. I looked this up on Goodreads and it seems like something I would really enjoy. My local library already ordered it and I got on the waiting list for when they receive it. Yay!! 🙂
Jamie @ The Fantasy Princess
I haven’t watched any of those shows but glad that you are enjoying them. I might have to check out the fantasy book that you mentioned, Weyward. Who is the author? Have a great week!
Lillian @ Mom with a Reading Problem
I’m sorry you’re in a funk. Those are hard especially when you can’t pinpoint why. Looks like you had some great shows to binge though 🙂 Hope you have a great week!
LORI CASWELL
You have been busy. I have been waiting to watch Fire Country to be sure it was going to stick around. Lately, when I get caught up in a new show it gets canceled. lol
Have a great week!
Terrie @ Bookshelf Journeys
Luckily reading funks usually don’t last THAT long…..go with the flow and books will be calling to you again. Glad to hear you enjoyed Weyward -I have the ARC also and am looking forward to diving in.

Many people are reading more/ watching more. I have been reading but not watching. I have an 2 month AppleTV trial and have yet to watch anything 6 weeks into it. I hope you have a healthy comfortable productive week!
Wendy
I hope you feel better soon. I don’t do well when it’s dark and cloudy, so I try to get out in the sunshine as much as possible.
Victoria Hamel
It’s hard to be feeling great when the gloomy cold days of late January arrive! I’ve been listening to the membership-included audible thrillers to entertain myself as I look forward longer days and warmer temps. I hope you see some sun this week and that helps!
Lover of Romance
I also binged a tv show and am ready to get back to books! I am so tired of the cloudy weather too. We had one day of sun and it was so nice. I miss the sunshine. lol I know for us in Utah, more snow is better for us for summertime as it makes it more comfortable but its still a pain unless I am going out skiing. I really do love magical realism type of books.
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
Hope you’re getting to feel better. I almost started Lockwood and Co this week. It looks pretty good!
Sophie
It’s cold and glommy here too Kimberly. Hard to have some energy indeed! And I am on a thriller kick as well! Must be the season LOL. Have a great week!
A Voracious Reader
My genres have been dark lately. I’ve been leaning towards those for awhile now with some lighter ones thrown in. Funny how we go in cycles. I’ll have to check Weyward out.
S. J. Pajonas
The cold and dark days can really put people in funks. Same here. I hope you get some sun soon.
Jennifer @ Book Den
I am feeling the funk, too. Winter is hard.
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Sorry you’ve been in a funk lately. Hope it passes!!
Jodie
I haven’t heard of any of these shows but I’m glad you’re enjoying them. The dark days of winter are slowly receding. I am counting the days until spring. Have a great week ahead and enjoy your new books.
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
I enjoyed Fire Country, I need to catch up with SEALS too, and I didn’t realise Season 3 of Miss Scarlett and the Duke had begun.
I hope the funk fades this week
Wishing you great reading
Erin @ Cracker Crumb Life
Oo Weyward is on my TBR! I am glad to hear it was good!
We are watching Miss Scarlet and the Duke as well. 🙂
Jessica @ a GREAT read
Oddly I feel like our winter here has been more mild than in years past. I mean, I’m a winter baby, so I love cold weather. I can do without the subzero temps though!
Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

I have the ARC of Weyward. I look forward to reading it after your recommendation! Hope you get some sunshine this week and start to feel more yourself.’
Nicci @The Lady Never
It’s been really cold on this side of the pond too! We’ve had those bright but freezing days mostly which isn’t so bad all things considered… Earlier in the month we were wrestling with flood warnings all over the SW so cold and bright is definitely preferable!
Take care, enjoy those books. 🙂
Emily @Budget Tales Book Blog
That does sound cold! It’s been bright but cold here (although I am South East UK – I think other places have had snow). We managed to get to the beach (my son loves it!). We wrapped up and put on our wellies 😂
Hope the weather clears up soon.
Rejitha
I really want to binge-watch something after reading your post. Weyward sounds like a great read.
Pooja
Wish you a nice week ahead
Laurel-Rain Snow
Sounds like a great week. I’ve been doing a lot of bingeing, too, but mine has been older shows that I saw in the past and wanted to see again.
Jill
I hope you see the sun soon. It finally came out here today and it made such a difference!
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
Sorry you’re in a funk, but it sounds like you’re getting lots of reading done! I hope things look brighter for you soon.
Taylor @ Taylor Fenner’s Bookish World
I hope you get out of your funk soon. My boss and I were just discussing the other day how January just seems to drag, especially when it’s so dark and kind of gloomy out. Glad you’ve been able to catch up on some shows though!
Yvonne @ Socrates Book Reviews
Fire Country looks good. I’ll have to check that out. Right now we’ve been binging on Criminal Minds – all 16 seasons. It’s been so long since we’ve seen the earlier episodes that they feel new again. Also watching The Poker Face. That’s been good. Hope you have a great week!
Greg
It’s been dark here too, no sun and very dreary. I’ve been binging shows too. Watching Last of Us. Right now we’re practically snowed in with a big winter blast. Hope you are having a good weekend!!!!!
