Passing through Perfect by Betty Lee Crosby is the third book in the Wyattsville series but will work as a standalone. Crosby brilliantly captivates life in the late 1940’s in a small rural Alabama farming town called Grinder’s Corner. Once again, Crosby weaved her magic and held me spellbound. She has this subtle gift for bringing characters and the period to life.
The Oversight by Charlie Fletcher
The Oversight by Charles Fletcher is his first foray into adult fiction and a superb one. Beautifully atmospheric with multiple perspectives I quickly became spellbound as Simon Prebble delivered the narrative. The Oversight offers a fascinating and complex world as Fletcher weaves you into its pages.
The Incredible Charlotte Sycamore and the Secret Traps by Kate Maddison
I love a good steampunk novel wrapped in mystery and was delighted to read The Incredible Charlotte Sycamore and the Secret Traps by Kate Maddison. The author suggested and it is true, this will work as a standalone. For me however, I think my connection to the characters would have been stronger had I first read, The Incredible Charlotte Sycamore. Featuring a young cast of characters who meddle in mysteries and dabble in steampunk with a sweet understated romance The Incredible Charlotte Sycamore and the Secret Traps was an engaging tale.
Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover by Sarah MacLean
Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover is the final book in Sarah MacLean’s Rules of a Scoundrel series and what a ride it has been. Regency London, fallen angels, and sizzling romances delivered only as MacLean can. Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover brings us Chase’s story and I lost myself within its pages.
Maplecroft by Cherie Priest
Maplecroft the first in the Borden Dispatches by Cherie Priest offers a dark twist on the Lizzie Borden murders in Falls River Massachusetts. Priest offers answers to the age-old question, “Did Lizzie murder her parents with an axe and if so why?” Dark, creepy and superbly twisted the tale that on unfolds in Maplecroft will raise the hair on the back of your neck.
