I have been read a slew of contemporary book of late, and while I do not think I will ever fully connect with young adult contemporaries, I am finding I truly enjoy them in the new adult and adult genres. Ten years ago I would have gagged and called you a liar if you told me I would come to love them. While they still cause me to become way to emotionally involved I am at peace with it. Ten Tiny Breaths by K. A. Tucker kept a little piece of me when I closed the book. The tale was powerful, tragic, heartbreaking, and romantic.
Hopeless by Colleen Hoover
In my quest for more books in the New Adult genre, I stumbled across reviews of Hopeless by Colleen Hoover and found myself intrigued by the repeated praises. Hoover took me on a journey filled with suspense, romance and intense revelations that left me breathless. From the first page I was drawn into the character’s world and quickly found myself emotionally connected to them. I laughed; I cried and in the end I gave a little piece of my heart to them.
Fathom by Merrie Destefano
Fathom was my first read by author Merrie Destefano and the first book in the Chronicles of Crescent Moon Bay series. Here we find selkies, sea monsters and a Celtic legend regarding the character Kira. The tale was engaging, the writing descriptive and despite some issues for me it was a good start to a fascinating series.
Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire
After devouring the turbulent romance of Travis and Abby in Beautiful Disaster I was on pins and needles awaiting the companion book Walking Disaster told from Travis point of view. Every story has two sides and McGuire shared the raw, gritty, emotional side of Travis and his relationship with Abby. I literally consumed this in a single afternoon, as I laughed, cried and found myself swept up in the beautiful disaster of these damaged soul-mates
Big Bad Bite by Jessie Lane
I love a good paranormal romance and when you mix in some weres, shifters, demons and vampires I am a happy little reader. Author Jessie Lane asked me to review her novel Big Bad Bite and I am delighted that I did. While it wasn’t perfect, I enjoyed many elements and literally consumed this in a few hours.
