This was a long week. The Royals went back to school on Thursday after being home since December 22. They were excited to see their friends. We are staying close to home as Covid cases are overwhelming the system here. I am still woefully behind on writing reviews and have all of next weeks to write. The posts are prepped, but that is about it. I have about 9 reviews in the queue and 2 books near completion. Perhaps I need to stop reading and catch up. LOL Saturday I took down Christmas and boxed it up. The house feels naked! Elbow hugs! Stay Caffeinated.

Iβm so jealous you have Crowbones! And of course Dianne Duvallβs new one. I hope the royals and you and your family stay safe during this current spike in Covid. Sometimes it just feels like a bad dream. I wish!
Kim
I do hate how our home looks without the decorations. Naked is an apt description, Kimberly. Lol!
I love reading so I’m always amazed how you and the rest of the book blogging community find time to read AND write such helpful reviews!
Tyler H. Jolley
Busy week here too. I always think things will slow down after the holidays, but they never do. Lol. Have a great week, Kimba.
Joanne
You’ve just reminded me I need to take down my string of lights. First time putting lights up so it’s not coded in to me lol. Sounds like you have a busy week of catch up ahead. Same. Good luck.
Shelleyrae @ Bookβd Out
We are in the same position here re Omicron, though itβs still school holidays so everyone is at home. Iβm behind on reviews already too
Wishing you a great reading week
vidya
we got our boosters this week and keeping our fingers crossed that the spikes do not continue as we do want schools to continue in person for our teens.. (so necessary for them).. and hoping you (and me too) can catch up on reviews (i will need to pause my reading for that, which is always tough!!)
MarthaE
I do hope you are still improving health-wise and I am glad you are staying close to home and being cautious.
I am current on the book reviews but I don’t expect to ever be ahead.; just current.
Stay warm and stay healthy. Happy Reading!
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
Covid cases are rampant here as well (and pretty much everywhere, as far as I can tell.) So we are hunkering down too. Even our library has closed down again; you can place holds and pick them up curbside, but you can’t go in.
I can really relate to being behind on the blog. I was behind in October, and then I spent November getting ready for our trip (packing up Robin’s stuff, mostly) and December visiting my family. So now I am really behind! Oh, well, I’ll try to catch up little by little. I hope you are able to catch up soon!
Wendy
We’re doing the same, staying and trying to stay away from everyone. I hope you and your family continue to stay safe.
A Voracious Reader
The house does feel naked without Christmas but I was also glad to have things back where they belong.
Emma @ Words And Peace
Keep safe and warm! Today was crazy slippery here (Northeastern Illinois).
Same problem here with reviews, so I’m trying to slow down my reading to review more. Eternal problem, lol

What a great week it looks like you have had there, glad you are staying safe. I know cases are rising due to the new variant which is more spreadable but thankfully it’s less severe which is the silver lining at least.
It can be so easy to get behind on reviews. I love seeing all of these challenges.
Anstice
I took my decorations down this weekend too. I’m enjoying how tidy it looks, though. Hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books.
Mary Kirkland
3 of us here at home got Covid. I’ve been trying to read more but the coughing is bad.
I wouldn’t mind some more cold weather. it’s 60 here again.
Melanie Simmons
Sorry to hear cases are up near you. They are up here in Ohio too. Sadly everywhere, I think. We are never getting out of this. I try to stay positive that I’m healthy and able to work from home. I know many aren’t nearly as lucky as I am.
Anne - Books of My Heart
It’s been colder here but not like there and it’s pretty nice today before tomorrow it’s back into the freezing temps. I am doing well with keeping a bit ahead on posts and hope to keep it that way. I finally had to sit myself down and focus to write 5 reviews last night. I have a couple more yet to write. Our Christmas stuff is all up because we only put it up Christmas Day.
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Glad the Royals were able to go back to school. We’re waiting to find out if our kids are going back in-person tomorrow. We’re actually hoping not, since the COVID rates are so high. (But our kids are high school, so that makes things a lot easier.)
You reminded me that I have to catch up on The Others spin-off series.
Tanya @ Girl Plus Books
I can relate to being behind on reviews. And my issue is the same… I don’t want to stop reading long enough to write reviews. LOL I’m so excited for Crowbones!!
Berls
I’m glad they were excited to go back to school and see their friends – that’s always a good sign! COVID is overwhelming our system at well, not to mention hitting our staff super hard so we’re having a hell of a time at my hospital keeping enough staff to treat everyone coming in. Stay safe!
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I have most of my Christmas decorations down. I have even taken the decorations off my tree. I just still need to put the tree up. Maybe one night this week. Hope you are able to get some reviews done this week like you want!
Ethan
I’m envious of the cold weather! It is still hot and humid here. We took down all of our Christmas as well, and the house definitely feels bare. Makes me think we need to buy more decor to fill out the house year-round.
LORI CASWELL
My husband has refused to take our tree down. He likes the way it lights up the room at night, lol. Have a great week!
Patricia in New Mexico
What a great description – naked – after taking down Christmas decorations! I find myself eager for Valentines’ Day! Hope you have a great reading/writing week!
Samantha
I love that cover for the Anne Bishop book! Stunning! Have a great week!
Laurie
Ahhhhh your Christmas break was different from ours. We should have had 2 weeks starting on December 24 till tomorrow, but since we went in lockdown on December 19, Christmas break got extended with one week. Schools will re-open tomorrow, only from kindergarten till high school. Uni’s and other higher education has to remain closed and distant learning untill further notice.
Emily @ Budget Tales Book Blog
Oh back to school! My partner is a teacher so he is back too. Christmas is also boxed up here. I live in the UK and the Covid cases here are just insane (putting it mildly!). Hopefully you get some time to put up your reviews π
S. J. Pajonas
We also took down Christmas this week and it’s weird. I miss the outside lights most of all. I wish we could keep those up until spring!
Vi @Inkvotary
I am still enjoying some candles in the evening. But I know how it feels when all the decoration is gone. Glad your grandkids are happy at school. Here in Germany school starts tomorrow and we all are in a mix of happiness, a bit fear and the hope that the infectionrate will stay low… Happy reading and stay safe and well.
Jennifer | Book Den
That’s the struggle I always have. I don’t want to give up my reading time to write the reviews. π
Jessica @ a GREAT read
Yeah, I always feel sad when the Christmas decorations have to come back down. Everything returns to plain boring normal. Lol. I basically had my Halloween decorations up in September, immediately went Christmas on Nov 1 and then when I started taking them down, I couldn’t remember where my normal stuff went! Lol. So I revamped things a bit this time.
Ooh nice new reads! I also picked up Crowbones! I can’t to get back to this world! Hope you enjoy the new reads!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

Oh, I wish I were only 9 reviews behind! π I’m actually trying to resolve to read less and review more this year. We’ll see how that goes.
Enjoy your week!
Cindy Davis
Interesting assortment of books, I hope you enjoy them when you get to them. I laughed a little bit when you said you were behind on reviews, that you still had NEXT weeks to write! I love that you are able to work ahead and hope that you do get caught up. I have only been able to schedule blog posts a few days ahead one time, I pretty much write them the day I post them. Maybe someday I will feel like I can write them early. Have a great weekend!
sjhigbee
Yes… we are also surrounded by cases of covid here and our wonderful National Health Service is teetering on the edge of being able to cope:((.
I’ve just scooped up a copy of Dark Whispers as I LOVE that series. I’ve fallen behind on the Anne Bishop series – but seeing there is another book available – I need to catch up! I hope this week is a peaceful healthy one for you, Kimberly.
Stephanie @ Once Upon a Chapter
Happy Sunday! It has been crazy cold in the Midwest. Yesterday was the first day that we saw double digits in awhile and then the roads started to freeze towards evening. It’s supposed to warm up a bit in the middle of the week. Fingers crossed.
I hope you get those reviews caught up! I know they can really sneak up on a person, especially when the reading is good!
Lola
Good luck with getting those reviews written. I hope you have a great week!
Harvee
I’m not fan of the supernatural but the cover of Crowbones did catch my eye.
Mareli @ Elza Reads
Hi Kimberly! I am just as behind with reviews. Gosh, I hate it! But I will try to catch up this week. Although school also starts for the private sector here in SA tomorrow. Let’s see how it goes!
Have a good week and take care!

I have retreated back in the house. Getting Covid now seems almost inevitable, though.
Stay safe.
Emma @ One Readers Thoughts
Hope the return to school is going well. We are taking your approach to Covid – staying close to home. Hopefully we all stay safe. Have a good week x
Sophie
Cases are increasing here too Kimberly! And I am behind on writing reviews too with the website having had so many problems in December so maybe I should stop reading too… LOL Have a great and productive week!
Louise Hallett
I have to write my review as soon after I’ve finished the book as I can – and always before I read the next one or I forget what I want to say! Hope you find the time to catch up and have a great week.
vvb
Crowbones looks striking. Enjoy your latest.
Tessa
Hope you get caught up on those reviews. Have a wonderful week!
Maureen @ Maureenβs Books
Iβm happy to read your grandbabies are excited to be back to school. Here we are still in lockdown.. only the grocery stores are open, and it has been like this since the middle of December.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Victoria Hamel
It was a long week wasnβt it? The cold really hit us here in the Chicago Suburbs. I got some reading done and watched a few movies
Rachel
Covid cases are on the rise here, too. π Good luck with the review writing!
I can’t wait for Crowbones!
Sophia Rose
Glad the kids could go back to school and see their friends. It does look pretty stark without the Christmas decorations. π Crowbones! I got that one, too.
Have a good week and good luck working on those reviews.
Yvonne @ Socrates Book Reviews
Covid cases are on the rise here too. I hope everyone is doing well. Have a great week!
Gayathri
Hello Kim, how are you. I am here after almost 6 months and we are still talking about COVID. Sigh, does this gonna ever improve? We are also staying in, as much as possible. But the city still in running on like there is nothing wrong.
Laurel-Rain Snow
Oh, yes, taking down the decorations does make the house look bleak!
Enjoy your books and catching up on everything.
Stay safe.
Greg
It does feel weird when the Christmas stuff goes away! And sorry to hear about Covid. It’s bad here too. My daughter was exposed this week at school we just got the notification. *sigh*
Have a great week!
