Today I am sharing books in a series. Torn by Melanie Karsak and Finding Amy by Julieann Dove are the final books in their series and were full of surprises. Please Ms. Grant may I have another? The Newsflesh trilogy and all the short stories set in this world are among my favorite books, so when I learned Feedback would be a new full-length novel set in the Newsflesh world I may have done a little dance in my kitchen. Feedback (Newsflesh #4) takes place during the same period as Feed the first book in the trilogy. It introduces us to a new group of reporters, and like everything Grant touches, it was gold.
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco is the first in an unnamed trilogy. I had the pleasure of meeting the author at BEA and obtaining a signed ARC. Stalking Jack the Ripper was an engaging, dark, twisted and clever historical mystery that takes place in Whitechapel in the late 19th century as a young woman, along with her Uncle and his apprentice work to catch Jack the Ripper.
Ever since I devoured the Passage in 2010 I have anxiously awaited the release of book two; The Twelve. The post-apocalyptic world Cronin created captivated me and the ending had me screaming for more. I received an ARC of The Twelve and completely surrender myself to it. Cronin stepped up his game and delivered a tighter, breathtaking tale. While easily read as a standalone, I encourage you to read book one of the Passage trilogies. I am already yearning for final book in this spine-tingling epic trilogy.
The Passage has to be one of the most beautiful, horrifying, page turning, heart stopping books I have ever had the pleasure to read. It brings to mind Stephen King’s The Stand. Cronin’s writing is exquisite. I found myself unable to put this post-apocalyptic book down. It is an epic novel of human endurance, when faced with a catastrophe that will forever change mankind.
