I turned sixty this week without much fanfare. My husband arranged dinner out with the children and grandchildren. We had a lovely time and there was cake. We have had rain every day but one for the last 20 days and honestly we are all over it. On Wednesday we saw massive flooding throughout the town when we had over 8 inches. Cars were trapped, basements flooded and some schools/shops were closed. Thankfully we are at the top of a hill and didn’t have any damaged. Our daughter made it through flooded roads but ended up with a flat tire. Thankfully she was fine. Mosquitos are out in full force and everyone has been bitten just walking to their cars. For the month of September I read/listened to 17 books. My stats are as follows; Goodreads Challenge 166/150, Audiobook Challenge 103/150 Library Challenge 14/12. Stay caffeinated & spread kindness.

Happy birthday! Sounds like you had a nice celebration. That’s crazy about the flooding. I hope it is calming down around you now. We live on a hill too and it’s nice not to worry about flooding. If my house gets flooded there are way more pressing problems! Enjoy your reading! I’m really curious about the Katherine Reay book. Have a great week!

Happy birthday! 🎉🎉🎉 I turn seventy on Tuesday. 😯

I will be checking out your Travis Baldree review. I loved Legends & Lattes and really liked Bookstores & Bonedust. 📘📙

Happy birthday – I’m waving banners and cheering best wishes from far away! I’m sorry about the floods – that’s distressing. I listened to a talk that said the biggest killer with climate change will not be the floods and fires but the mosquitoes. They’ve predicted some astronomical amount of deaths from them in years to come. So do try hard not to get bitten! I like the sound of Worry Box. Off to google.

We’ve had a lot of rain here, and there were some flash flood warnings, but for the most part not a lot of flooding fortunately around here. We’ve got the fall weather for a few days, but then back up close to 80 for a few days. You got some good books this week! Happy belated birthday! Mine is coming up later this month too.

Happy Birthday!! Glad you dodged most of the flood damage. The Moonflower Witches look like a fun series 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

Happy birthday Kimberly! You are just a few years older than me. I hope the rain will stop soon. Here it’s more the draught we are fighting this year.

  7. Lover Of Romance

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And such a milestone there for ya. Glad you got some good family time. Love seeing the books you got added to your library there. The Tee Harlowe looks interesting.

Happy Birthday, Kimberly! I think we got that storm over in Texas when I was there and it really caused havoc with my flight home on Thursday, which ended up being Friday. Hope the rain and the mosquitos let up!

  9. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Glad you had a nice birthday! Bummer about about the rain and flooding. Glad you weren’t effected by the latter. My new house is on top of a hill too, so I am hoping I don’t see any of that kind of weather damage either when I finally get to move in. We haven’t had much rain ourselves. I think it might have rained an inch’s worth one day this week? It might have been less than an inch but summer has been cruel around here, so a nice dousing of rain would be nice!

Nice new reads! Lots of new to me ones here! I hope you enjoy each and every one of them as you get to read them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

Urg! It sounds like you’re getting the kind of weather we generally have at this time of year. Whereas we are having warm, dry and sunny weather that is more like early summer – the only drawback is that the days are drawing in. I hope it dries out very soon – maybe it will make it across the Atlantic as we desperately need the rain! Have a good week, a belated Happy Birthday and remember, 60 is the new 40…

    Happy birthday!!! 🎉
Wow that is a lot of flooding. We saw a lot of that when we lived in Houston – people’s cars getting flooded in the streets. Awful.

  12. Lola

Happy birthday! Sounds like you had a nice birthday celebration without too much fanfare. I hope you get some days without rain soon, as that sounds like a lot of rain in a row.

    Happy Belated Birthday!
You have mosquitos and we have bees everywhere. My daughter-in-law is allergic so we all remain vigilent to keep her safe. I am sorry about the flooding, we have been having sunny/cloudy days and rain at night.
I hope you have a wonderful week full of sunny days.
