This was a busy week. We visited our youngest, celebrated our son’s birthday, and went to Sophia’s birthday skating party Friday night. From there the rest of weekend went to hell because I fell rollerskating. My past self a rollerskating queen and present day, Nonna met and believe me when I tell you… we are two VERY different people. I’d like to blame the cheap rental skates that caused me to fall but down I went on to my bony ass and wrists. I felt the impact so strongly I could taste it. I stayed for the cake and by the time we drove home, I needed help getting out of the car. 100% do not recommend. Stay caffeinated, & spread kindness.

Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?
I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact that I can’t do the things I used to (flips on the trampoline, dives off the diving board, etc.). My body simply cannot anymore. I hope you’re feeling better!
Mary Kirkland
Oh no, so sorry to hear that. I used to skate too and won’t even attempt it now. I fell walking up the stairs a couple of years ago and broke 3 toes, fractured my arm, and dislocated my elbow. I’m not about to put on skates or try riding a bike. lol
Katherine
I have never been able to roller-skate so I don’t even want to know what would happen if I tried it now! I hope you’re feeling better! Happy birthday to your son and Sophia! Have a great week!
La La in the Library
Oh, dear! I hope you are able to rest your injuries. 😬
Happy birthday to your son, and Sophia. 🎂
Have a less adventurous new week. 😯
Victoria
Oh no. Rental skates are usually pretty bad. I hope the soreness goes away quickly!
Angela (Angel's Book Nook)
Oh no, Kimberly! I’m so sorry to hear about your fall. I really hope there aren’t any lasting issues and that you’re feeling better soon. It’s definitely a reality check when things we mastered in our younger years become a challenge later on—that’s life, I suppose! It sounds like you had a wonderful week otherwise with the family. Stay warm, rest up, and happy reading!
Carla@CarlaLovesToRead
Oh no, I’m sorry to hear you hurt yourself, Kimberly. Hopefully it’s not serious. I went in the water, jumping waves a couple of weeks ago and this old body is not as steady on it’s feet as the 40 year old. I ended up twisting my knee, so I know that feeling. I’m good now thank goodness. It sounds like a full week of family fun. I hope you are back to normal sooner rather than later.

I hope you don’t have any lasting issues from your fall. Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
Oh, ouch! I’m so sorry you fell; that must really have put a damper on your evening. I hope you are recovering well from your fall, and that you didn’t break or crack anything. I used to love ice skating in my youth (never had a chance to do much roller skating), but I’m wary of falling on the ice now that I’m older and less resilient.
Lisa Howeler
That fall sounds just terrible. So sorry that happened and I hope you are able to heal quickly. Be patient with yourself, though, it could take some time!
Rachel @Waves of Fiction
Sounds like a fun time except for the fall! I met my husband at a roller skating rink! Flash back to the 80s. I hope you feel better, Kimberly!
Sophie
Oh no Kimberly! I feel you! I used to ice skate nearly like a pro but years ago went with my kids and fell and as you said, we feel every bone and muscle and sinew in our body after! I hope you get better!
Melissa
I used to Roller Skate a TON when I was younger. We had birthday parties at the roller rink. I certainly couldn’t do it now! Take care!
Sarah
Ouch!! That sounds so painful:(. I recommend Arnica – slather it onto the bruises, which will lessen the bruising and massively help with the pain. Hope you recover soon, Kimberly.
Bree @ Bibliophilebree
I fear the same would happen to me if I went roller skating! Hope you have a great week.
Meezan
Oh no! I’m so sorry! I hope you recover soon and you have a restful week! 🙂
Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy
OMG, so sorry about the skating fall. I was a skating queen back in the day too, but I would not put skates on now for any reason! Have a good week:-)
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
One of my cousins owns a roller rink and she’ll have family get togethers there. There was a day we all roller skated all the time, but I won’t even put skates on these days for the very thing that happened to you! I also got Fossil Feud and can’t wait to get to it. I hope you are feeling better from the fall soon and have a good week!
A Voracious Reader
Ouch!! Did you take a nice long soak in a hot bath? Or more than one maybe. After sledding for hours last Sunday I thought I wouldn’t be able to move, but was surprised to find only the bruises on my knees bothered me. Though I was tired for a couple of days after. lol I hope you feel better soon!
Cindy's Book Corner
I am so sorry! You are really having a rough time lately! Glad for the family time you had this week. I hope you recover quickly from your fall. Have a good week.
Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
Ouch, I also found out the hard way that though you never forget how to ride a bike, you can totally forget how to roller skate.
I recommend hot baths, arnica cream, rest, and a good book.
Emma @ Words And Peace
oh no! Be gentle with yourself, Nonna!
Jodie | That Happy Reader
Oh no Kimberly! I was a figure skater in my youth and have often thought about taking up ice skating again. However I can feel your pain in sore bones and muscles. I hope you didn’t break anything! Take Care.
Jessica @ a GREAT read
Oh no! Hope you’re healing and feeling better now! I was never much of a skater myself due to medical issues as a kid. When I finally started trying it out I had another surgery and then never went back to it. So I’d likely do some bodily harm to myself if I tried it again.
Nice new reads! All new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all and that you’re feeling better!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

Oh no! That sounds so painful. I’m so sorry. It really sucks when our bodies don’t cooperate with our memories. I hope you recover quickly.
Janette
Oh no! It’s such a shock when your present self realises that they can’t do the things that they used to do so easily isn’t it. I hope that your aches and bruises aren’t too bad.
Lola
Sorry to hear you fell while rollerskating, I hope you didn’t hurt anything too badly and will recover quickly. Fossil feud looks good, will have to look that one up. Have a great week!
Reinvented Reader
Sorry to hear about your fall! Hopefully you won’t be feeling the effects for too long!
Gail Is This Mutton
Ooh I can feel that fall! Hope you’re ok. Attracted by Murder Will Out.
sherry fundin
I used to love roller skating and ice skating. Hope you feel better soon.
Lori
I am so sorry you had a bad fall and are going to be achy for awhile. Our minds think we can do something but our bodies are not in the same page. Rest and take it easy.
Jinjer
My first thought “a skating party! how fun!” and then I read what happened. Oh nooooo! Yah, definitely need wrist guards, if nothing else when taking up roller skating later in life. I started roller skating again a couple years ago and the first time I fell I was soooo glad I had on knee pads and wrist guards because I fell forward. Sending healing vibes your way!
Jill
Those skates set you up! I hope you are feeling better.
Yvonne @ Socrates Book Reviews
Oh no! I hope you are okay! You must be so sore. I hope nothing is broken. Take care.
