Not a wonderful week. We canceled my birthday celebration with my children and grandchildren because of illnesses. Clayton and my husband have strep throat. I woke up at 5 am on Thursday because the cyst in my throat had grown to tennis ball size again. Swallowing/eating is painful, and my head hurts. The surgeon put me on antibiotics until my surgery on Oct. 23rd. Despite being on meds since Thursday my neck is still very swollen and painful. Aside from work, I binge-read the first five books in the Kate Burkholder series. Two were on KindleUnlimited and I read those before my KU expires on the ninth. I got 3-5 at the library, but they don’t have six. Ugh. I will have to keep an eye out for sales. I asked my library to get it, so we will see. Stay Caffeinated and spread kindness.

Fingers crossed the library request comes through. You definitely deserve to binge a series with everything you’re going through. I hope the meds help. I hope everyone gets better soon. Strep is no fun.

  2. Sian

Hope you’re feeling better soon! Detour looks brilliant – the cover is gorgeous and the Martian crossed with Twilight Zone sounds incredible!

  3. Chris Tullbane

I’m sorry it’s been a rough week/month for you! Here’s hoping things turn around soon and that your surgery later this month goes well and permanently resolves things!

  4. Anne - Books of My Heart

I’m horribly sorry you have such health issues in the family but even more for your troubles. I hope they can at least make you more comfortable the next few weeks. Kate Burkholder is on my Sunday Series I want to read (start reading). Excited to hear you like it so far.

  5. Sophie

I am so sorry that you had such a bad week Kimberly! I hope next week will be better. Sending hugs!

  6. Rachel @Waves of Fiction

I’m so sorry you and the family haven’t been feeling well! I hope your neck improves and the pain improves with antibiotics until you can get the surgery! I love the Kate Burkholder series! Glad you’re enjoying it, too!

  7. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Oh no! Sorry to hear everyone is sick and that you’re still under the weather too. I hope your procedure this month will help alleviate all the pain and woes! You’ll need a nice big celebration after that to have cake to celebrate being (hopefully) pain-free and your birthday!

Nice new reads! These are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Oh dear! So sorry your celebrations got cancelled for now. But kudos on still getting so much reading done! Hope everyone is healed quickly and completely. {{hugs}}

  9. Lola

Sorry to hear about your week not going so well, that’s a shame you had to cancel your birthday celebrations. And that cyst sounds super painful and annoying even with the medications, I hope the surgery later this month goes well. Nice you got some binge reading done and hopefully your library gets that sixth book in the series.

  10. La La in the Library

I am sorry you are so sick, and also that you had to cancel your birthday! GIANT HUGS for you. I hope and pray the meds start helping you more. 😔

I hate it when libraries don’t have all the books in a series. I requested the last three books in a manga series the library had and they just purchased the next one a year after I first requested it, without get the last two. 😐

Here’s to a better October for you. 💟
