This was a tough week as people we know lost jobs as companies, along with the federal government, tightening their budgets. We are preparing for a recession and doing the same. Our weather was all over, which is typical at this time of year. Snow one day and seventies the next. I learned I will need to get the measles booster as I was born after 1957 and was vaccinated before 1968. We were given an inactivate virus. Not that I am complaining, I will do my part to stay safe and help those who can’t. Now if we could just end Daylight Savings. Stay Caffeinated and spread kindness.

I’m sorry to hear some people you care about will be losing their jobs. I will also have to get a Measles vaccine when I get home. I hope this week was an okay one for all of you.
Stephanie
I completely forgot about Daylight saving happening this weekend – I loathe it so much. Everything feels so crazy these days, thus the need to drive into good books to avoid it I guess.
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
Thank you for the reminder; I need to get a measles booster too, before we go to Texas for a wedding in June. And I feel for your friends who have lost jobs. We’re wondering when and if the axe will fall on Mr. Bookwyrm’s job, too. Just taking it day by day for now, and trying to think of ways to tighten our belts as well.
Kindness is going to be very important in the coming months and years.
Wishing you and yours a good week.
Emily @ Budget Tales Book Blog
It sounds like a stressful time for everyone. I hope that the jab goes ok ☺️
Mary Kirkland
I haven’t had a booster in years. I didn’t know about getting a booster if you had them earlier than that year.
Anne - Books of My Heart
yes, I’ve been tightening up my budget since November. I expected all these issues because of the felon and his grift. Good to know about the measles. I got my first in 1964 and a second one in 1970. I also had the measles when I was 9. Since measles can wipe out all your immunities, I wonder if I should check into all those baby shots I had? Hmm. I know my chicken pox immunity is still there because I was tested for that recently since I had chickenpox but was never immunized for it. They said I still had the antibodies and that was before I had measles.
Our weather is on a warmup and I am glad. Have a good week!

I didn’t realize that about the measles vaccine! I wasn’t born til 72, so then I don’t need to get it again? I will if I have to, but guess I should check that out. I just realized that my retirement year lines up with the next presidential election time, so let’s hope I am able to make it through this presidency and not have the whole public school system messed up that i can’t retire like I’m hoping. Although I do intend to go work somewhere outside of k-12 public ed once I retire. Hope you have a good week!
Kimberly
No, you would have received two live versions of the vaccine.
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I hadn’t heard about the measles vaccine thing. Glad you know you need to get that booster!
Cindy Davis
I think it is smart to prepare for a recession. I had not thought about it, but I appreciate you mentioning it. Everything is hard for everyone right now. I hope you have a great week..
Rachel @Waves of Fiction
The news continues to be disturbing and I wonder what’s next. I had to get another measles shot three years ago when I transferred to Northern California. They did titers on me and I was no longer immune, so I had to get another MMR. I’m now happy they checked! I got vaccinated after 1970! My husband has to go in and get one. Thanks for doing your part, too!
Olivia
So many voted for the Felon-in-Chief because they thought he was going to make the economy better. Sigh. My husband needs the updated measles vaccine too. Because I worked in healthcare, I learned about this issue years ago and got updated then. But it hasn’t really been an issue until now.
Sophia Rose
I was wondering how adult measles was suddenly a thing and never caught the reason- bad batch of shots would do it. I think I’ll do all right with this Daylight Savings Time since I didn’t feel well and haven’t been sleeping right anyway. 🙂
Ooh, Drop of Corruption. That will be good.
Have a good week, Kimberly!

I’m sorry about your friends. This administration infuriates me. And as a Gen-Xer I do not take shit without striking back. It’s going to get very bad before the tide turns. And I do believe the tide will turn. Too bad so many have to suffer before that happens. I’m preparing my household as best as I can for what’s coming and I try to help where I can. With news outlets owned by oligarchs the best thing we can do is get the word out to those who aren’t aware what’s really happening. Deep breaths my friend. I hope you have a better week.
Jodie
I’m sorry that you are already seeing the impact of your administration’s choices – we are also seeing the impact here in Canada as well. If only we could roll back the clock with this insight – perhaps the US would have voted diferently?

It takes me a few weeks to adjust to the time change. It’s been a draining week. Enjoy your books, I enjoy Georgette Heyer’s books, I’ll have to come back for your post.
Stormi
I love daylight savings time or at least I would be happy if they left it this way so I can have more daylight in the evenings. I absolutely hate when it’s dark at 5pm. 🙁 I love looking out at 8 and it’s still daylight! 🙂
Have a great week and happy reading!

Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out
Preparing for difficult times seems to be a good idea given everything.
Wishing you good weather and a happy reading week
Emma @ Words And Peace
Thanks for mentioning the measles. I was vaccinated in France. I have to check the date and what type I got. And I know I actually had the measles twice: as a kid and when I was 17. I know it’s super rare, but I did.
Jessica @ a GREAT read
I am totally with you on ending this DST nonsense. I forced myself out of bed this morning even though I am still super tired. I’d like to say I’ll go to bed early but it sounds like company might not leave at the estimated time, so we’ll have to wait and see now. I write this comment with drooping eyes and just want to crawl back in bed. It’s going to take the rest of the month to get myself back to normal. So yes, please sign me up for wherever I need to sign to end this horrible DST process! Lol.
Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them once you get to read them!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

Stephanie @ Once Upon a Chapter
We’re experiencing those same weather swings! It’s the worst. I have a love hate relationship with DST. I hate the time adjustment but love that tomorrow when I get off work there will still be some daylight left.
Carla
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of so many jobs. Ending Daylight Savings Time would be great. Have a wonderful week!
Lin
Ah, this is awful I hope the situation will get better…
Bat eater and other names for cora zeng sounds really interesting! Love the covers of both books, though.
Lola
I totally agree and wish we could stop with daylight savings time, our clock will move later this month and I am not looking forward to it. We had some really warm weather this week, but it will get colder again next week.
Greg
I always hate the time change. It always seems to mess with my internal clock no matter what. And I’m sorry to hear about job losses with people you know. How awful. The times are terrible. Be well and stay warm.
Lori
We talked all the vaccines the last time we were at the doctor but they never have the shots. We called the local Walgreens and they are out of COVID boosters. MMR boosters. Pneumonia and flu shots and have been out for about 6-8 weeks and their shipments keep getting delayed. Funny lines up with all the executive orders chaos.
Take care and have a great week.
Jill
It’s scary everything that’s going on. I just don’t get it.
Yvonne @ Socrates Book Reviews
It’s certainly been a hard week financially for a lot of people. I hope all goes well with the measles vaccine. I’m going to have to look into that. My mother said I was vaccinated but I’m pretty sure it would be within the years you mentioned. I’ll check it out. Have a good week.
Laurel-Rain Snow
I hope everything works out for you with the vaccinations. The economy is definitely a challenge, and I wish things would be better. Hang in there!
Haze @ The Book Haze
I’m sorry to hear it’s been tough for so many people. It’s scary to see what’s been going on, but I’m holding out hope that things will get better. Hang in there!
