SLIGHTLY SOUTH OF SIMPLE by Kristy Woodson Harvey is the perfect book to take to the beach this summer. The first in the Peachtree Bluff series, this women’s fiction novel takes you to the seaside town of Peachtree Bluff as Ansley finds her beachfront home filled to the brim.
A Lowcountry Christmas by Mary Alice Monroe is the fifth novel in her popular Lowcountry Summer series. This was my first experience with both and Monroe delighted me with this story as she shared one family’s struggles. It’s almost Christmas and finances are tight bringing disappointment to their youngest as their oldest son struggles with PTSD.
The Angel’s Share by J.R. Ward is the second novel in her family saga The Bourbon Kings. Ward drew me into the world of the Bradford family as the children struggle to hold on to their families’ empire even as they face death, deceit, betrayal and loss. Brilliantly executed from the sweeping southern countryside to the drama laden issues of this high society family Angel’s Share allowed us to become apart of their world.
Lowcountry Stranger by Ashley Farley is the second novel in the Sweeney Sisters series. Once again we join Faith, Jackie, Sam and their circle of family and friends as they deal with love, family and the daily challenges found in this coastal town. Farley weaved suspense and drama into the tale with the arrival of a stranger in Prospect.
A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler takes us into the lives of the Whitshanks from the 1920’s to present day giving us glimpses into their daily lives, beginnings, frustrations and life’s ever changing cycles. Humorous, poignant and complex Tyler brought this family to life sharing the complexity of family life.
