I loved The Midnight Library and was eager to listen to Matt Haig’s newest novel, The Impossible Life. In this story filled with magical realism, we travel with retired math teacher Grace Winters to the island of Ibiza as she searches for answers about her lost friend. An intriguing tale filled with wonder and hope.
Junkyard Roadhouse by Faith Hunter
Also referred to as the Shining Smith series, Junkyard Roadhouse by Faith Hunter is the fourth book in the Junkyard Cats series narrated by Khristine Hvam. This science fiction novella with it’s dystopian setting is addictive as Shining Smith, her cats and motley crew work to survive. A little humor and a whole lota action make this series an autobuy for me.
The Hermit Next Door by Kevin Hearne
The Hermit Next Door by Kevin Hearne is a short story released by Subterranean Press and is also available in audio. I read along as I listened to Annalee Scott deliver this fun, science fiction tale in a world I want more of. Whether you read or listen, I encourage you to come meet the neighbor.
Emergence by Kim Harrison
Emergence by Kim Harrison is the third audiobook narrated by Xe Sands in the Eclipsed Evolution trilogy. In this last installment, we shift from scientific study to politics between the humans and aliens known as “Neighbors.” Suspense, friendships, and reveals made for an interesting ending while still leaving the door open to explore more.
Heavenbreaker by Sara Wolf
Narrated by Ashley Bryce, Heavenbreaker by Sara Wolf is the first novel in an unnamed series that blends science-fiction and fantasy. I enjoyed this tale of revenge, Jousting, artificial intelligence and unexpected romance set against a corrupt ruling class in space.
