I am over 2026 already- what a shitshow. For my own mental health, I am once again limiting my daily news to once a day from various sources and avoiding social media. The grandchildren returned to school on Tuesday, and by Friday we had fallen back into our daily routine. Our weather is bonkers. 60 one day, freezing the next. Rain, snow, sleet — you name it, we had it. We watched the end of Stranger Things, and I was pleased. Stay Caffeinated & spread kindness.

Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?
I’m sorry your year is off to a rough start. Hopefully it gets better! We’re back into our routine and I miss all the reading time I had over break. 😭 Our weather has been really up and down this week also. It was in the 60’s yesterday and we barely go to 30 today.
Sophia Rose
Those are some good ideas for your mental health. Ha, yes! The weather is nuts.
I got that new Chanel Cleeton, too. Sounds good.
Have a great week, Kimberly!
Katherine
The Chanel Cleeton looks interesting and a bit different from her usual. I hope all the kids had a good start back to school. We’ve warm weather the last few days but then it rained for 48 hours straight and it’s back to cold (for us). I’m not a fan of the cold and we typically don’t snow or even ice. I hope you have a great week!
Angela (Angel's Book Nook)
I know longer watch or read the news. It’s just to depressing and upsetting to see the direction we’re going. Stranger Things was a satisfactory ending. My kid (middle schooler) has started the series & is loving it. I watched The Dead Boy Detectives this last weekend. So sad it’s canceled. It was so good. Hope you stay warm and healthy.
vidya
I need to watch Stranger Things still … and The Bookstore Below sounds cool..
Victoria
Glad the kiddos are back in their routines. I’m hoping we can have outdoor recess all week. The kids really need that fresh air. It’s going to be a little about freezing outside so that helps.
Mary Kirkland
I don’t watch the news at all. I see interesting news things on Twitter and click on them if I want to know more.
Sarah
I’ve only watched the News twice since the start of the year as I can’t do anything about it and see no point in making myself miserable – so I know exactly what you mean! Those temperatures sound crazy – I hope they get a lot milder. We could also do with a bit more warmth. Have a great week, Kimberly.
La La in the Library
Likewise with 2026 and the news. 😔
We were supposed to get upper 50s for a few days here and there, but they ended up just being upper to mid 40s and then it was back to low 30s. 😐
I hope being back into a routine with the grands helps make life better for you. 🌞
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
I’m totally with you on the sh*tshow, and taking similar steps to protect my mental health. Luckily, we both have families, friends, and books to help keep our spirits up!
Anne - Books of My Heart
Yes, a shitshow, weather all over, limit social media and spread kindness.
sherry fundin
I do my best to stay away from any news shows. Hubby keeps me up to date with the highlights, because I feel I need to know some of what’s happening around the world. On a personal level, 2026 is looking pretty good.
Jan farnworth
I did not enjoy the book shop below as much as i did the city of stardust. It was interesting but just not quite what i was expecting.
Sophie
I get wanting to limit your daily dose of news Kimberly!
Bree @ Bibliophilebree
Hope you have a good week!

I am deeply saddened by the way people are directing our country. I plan to continue to speak up for education and reading and love and freedom in this very weird world.
Meezan
I stopped watching the news ten years ago. It was one of the best things I ever did for my mental health. In this day and age, it’s still very easy to stay informed. I’m on social media a lot, but I’m selective about who I follow. Wishing you a wonderful week! 🙂
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I’m with you on 2026, and partly personal for me as well as the world we live in. I just finished all but the final episode of Stranger Things. And I cried when Will told everyone, it was so heartbreaking that you know all the things he talked about are real for some people when they come out. I’m excited to watch the finale, but know that I’ll need an uninterrupted night since it is basically movie length. I hop eyou have a good week!
Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy
I was also happy with the end of Stranger Things:-) Have a good week, and avoiding social media is definitely the way to go!
Jodie | That Happy Reader
I am doing the same thing with the news. It’s just too much and really impacts my mental health as well. Cleeton’s new book is on my TBR as well (in audiobook format). I hope you enjoy all of these new books Kimberly. Take care.
Melissa - That Library Girl
I am also already over 2026!
A Voracious Reader
We’re living in a nightmare that you don’t think can get worse and then it does. I’m trying to concentrate on getting things done and will try to also limit my exposure to the heartless bastards on the internet. {{{hugs}}}
Jessica @ a GREAT read
I guess I didn’t watch the news too much this week, so I honestly have no idea what’s happening in the world right now. Ignorance is bliss, I guess? Lol. The Stranger Things finale was pretty good. I had random questions about some things that happened earlier in the episode that were never explained, but since we saw the outcome I guess we just assume everything worked out for the best. But still, I was like WHAT HAPPENED?! Lol. Everyone seem convinced that we were getting a secret episode this week with the “real” finale, but I felt like that was just a joke. I think there is some sort of “the making of” special that’s coming this week maybe? But I think the finale we got was it and everyone needs to move on. Lol.
Nice new reads! These are all new to me ones but I hope you positively love each and every one of them!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

Hang in there, 2026 will get better!

I am sorry the year is off to a rough start. We had 60s on Friday and woke up to 4 inches of snow this morning, and it wasn’t even supposed to snow! The weather is weird this year. I hope you have a great week!
Olivia
I feel this wholeheartedly. I am also limiting my intake of news and social media.
Lola
Limiting your daily news sounds like a good plan for your mental health. Let’s hope the rest of 2026 is better. Here we had cold and snow for most of the week, but next week should get a bit warmer again luckily.
Gail Is This Mutton
Limiting the news is the only thing to do. I avoid platforms where hate is spread. Let’s take comfort in books.
Lori
2026 is not off to a good start, and I too am limiting social media and the news. I try to focus on my grands. They always bring me joy.
Hugs to you.
Rachel @Waves of Fiction
Yep, just when I think I couldn’t be more shocked or surprised…. I’m trying to limit my viewing too! We’ve had some crazy weather too. Pouring rain, freezing cold and now we’re getting up into the upper 60s next week. That’ll be nice.
Yvonne @ Socrates Book Reviews
I try to stay away from the news and social media but it does keep finding me. Hope you have a great week!
Jill
Shit show is right. Hang in there.
