This week was weird. Sophia came down with Influenza A, almost three weeks after her brother. Unlike him, she had croup at night and went through two large size tissue boxes. Nights were hard. We got more snow on Monday, but schools were already closed for President’s Day. Tuesday schools remained closed due to extremely cold temps. Wednesday, the kids’ short day, was a 2-hour delay because of temps and parents were mad because the temps were bad enough that trash collection was canceled. Thursday was a remote learning day as we broke low temp records with -15 and wind chills of -35. Friday, we broke another record, but warmed up by 9 am to above zero degrees. Clayton went to school. Unless it involved picking up Clayton from school, I did not set foot outside. The extreme cold makes my rheumatoid arthritis painful. Today is my oldest daughter’s birthday and we are hosting dinner and dessert to celebrate. Stay Caffeinated.

Oh my goodness, I don’t even know where to start! I hope Sophia is feeling better. And those temps! I could not take them, but I guess I would if I had to. Happy birthday to your daughter! I didn’t know there was a new Sangu Mandanna book coming out. I’m adding it to my list. I’ve been seeking out a few comforting reads recently and I would count her as a comforting author.

I’ve been trying to work up the nerve to use 5calls. I hate calling so much, but I’ve heard that it’s more effective than email. I just need to sit down and do it after hours one day. I know it will be easier after I do it the first time, but this first step feels like a doozy.

    Take care!

I hope Sophia is feeling better. That sounds awful – I’ve only had the flu once and it was the worst. A Witches Guide is on my TBR and I really want to read Chanel Cleeton. I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve read by her and want to read more. Have a great week!

What a great recap meme! I hope that Sophia is much better now. Here in Bulgaria, there has been a pandemic, and all schools were closed due to so many viruses around. Also, it has been very cold, -8 degrees Celsius, even -10 during the night. Some great books you have listed, I will be adding some of them to my neverending TBR pile, haha.

  4. Bookworm

So cold! I hope she’s feeling better. We had flu A in my house a few weeks ago and it was rough. A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping looks fun, happy reading.

  5. Janette

Brrrrr! I definitely don’t envy you those temperatures. We’ve hardly had any days where it’s been below zero so far this winter. Just everlasting grey skies and rain.
That’s a lovely haul of new arrivals. I’m really looking forward to reading A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping.

  6. Olivia

I hope Sophia is feeling better. Influenza is rough! Whew on those temperatures! I understand regarding RA. I have autoimmune issues too. Still working on a diagnosis.

  7. A Voracious Reader

I hope Sophia feels better and it warms up for you soon! We dipped down and got some snow. It was pretty and not much, but enough for NC to lose it’s damn mind. Anyway, we’re supposed to be warm this week. Maybe Spring? Maybe not. Who knows? I don’t think even Ma Nature knows.

That is some week! I hope that everyone gets well soon and the temperatures improve. My son has had this week off for school holidays. I can’t believe how fast it has gone! We are being threatened with snow at some point but I am hoping that it will miss us like last time!

  9. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Oh wow! I don’t think we’ve ever had delays or cancellations to school due to just low temps. It was always snow that got it cancelled. I hope the little ones are feeling better now! I feel like my poor niece and nephew were sick most of December and January! They’re back to their wild selves now! Lol.

Nice new reads! Some new to me ones here but I have seen Poston’s newest one. I still need to read her last two books. I’m starting to think they aren’t quite for me since the paranormal/magical element wasn’t super strong in the first story. But we’ll see how the other two go before I add this to the pile! Hope you enjoy all of your new reads!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

The Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping looks right up my alley! Glad the kids are on the mend. Half my house is hacking, but they keep doing the things. Luckily I’m just a bit stuffy so far. Hope the weather warms up soon for all of us!

  11. Lola

That’s some really cold weather you had this week. I hope Sophia is feeling better soon. I am really looking forward to A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna as I enjoyed the authors previous book. Have a good week.

  12. Rachel @Waves of Fiction

That is some cold temps! Influenza A and the Norovirus have been making the rounds! Influenza A has been a big one at our hospital. Poor Sophia! Your family has been through the ringer with sickness lately! I hope you all feel better!

  13. Lori

The cold was brutal. I was so happy I didn’t have to go out. That flu is really going around. Our youngest granddaughter had it but it doesn’t look like she passed it on.

    Happy Birthday to your daughter.

Stay safe and warm. Spring is coming.

  14. Jill

Yikes! What a week! The flu is so bad this year. I hope Sophia is feeling better and everyone can go back to school next week.
