I lost a week to Influenza A. Yes; I got my flu shot back in October, and yes, I still got it. The doctor said the shot kept me from being hospitalized, but man; it was a horrible week. I did nothing but listen to audiobooks and sleep when I could. Mostly in 20 minute increments. I could not get warm and that, I think, was the worst. I am still weak, congested, and have very little appetite, but at least my hair stopped hurting. Yes, even the hairs on my head hurt. Clayton, my grandson, brought it home and was out of school until Friday. In January, I read/listened to 22/150 books for the Goodreads challenge, of which 14/150 counted for the audiobook challenge. This week, we will celebrate my son’s birthday. Stay Caffeinated.

The flu’s been bad this year! I lost about 10 days to close out January; I kind of expect it these days, but still, that was a bit much. Hope you’re feeling better!
Carla
What a horrible week!, I hope you and the grandson are fully recovered soon. The Silence has a beautiful cover.
Lindsi
Booooo flu. I was sick last week and felt better for, like, two days before getting sick again. I’m OVER IT. I hope you feel better (and stay better) soon.
Nesha Baker
Oh no, that sucks. The flu is no fun. I hope you feel better.
Joanne
Wow, that sucks.
Jen at Introverted Reader
Oof. I still remember how bad I felt the last time I had the flu and it had to be 15 years ago (knock on wood). I’m glad you’re feeling at least a little better and hope you continue to improve.
Happy birthday to your son!
I can’t wait to read Grady Hendrix’s new book. I love his work.
Sophia Rose
You poor thing! That flu bug is a nasty one. Had my turn back in December. I remember the chills, too. Hope you are getting past the worst of it. Well done with your reading and listening numbers for January.
Aj @ Read All The Things!
I hope you feel better soon! My hair hurt when I had COVID. It was so weird! I wonder if it has to do with muscle fatigue. My head and neck hurt a lot when I had COVID.

Sorry to hear you got the flu. I got my flu shot in October also. I know it’s hard not to catch everything the kids are exposed to.
Jinjer
Ohmygosh I’m so sorry you were down with the flu!!! And yes, the painful hair and the freezing to death is the worst!!! Hope you continue to feel better.
Katherine
I hope you and Clayton are both feeling better. I’ve only had the flu once in my adult life and it was the absolute most miserable I think I’ve ever been. I’m glad you listened to your body and got as much rest in as you can. I hope this week is much more fun!
Anne - Books of My Heart
I really hope you will feel much better this week and can stay that way. At least we have the best books to read.

Ugh, so sorry you lost a whole week being sick! My sister-in-law just came down with influenza this past week too. We’re hoping my niece doesn’t catch it since her birthday is this coming week. I hope you get to feeling better!
Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard
I’m glad you’re on the mend, but wow, that sounds rough. I hope you can take it easy as you recover. The flu can really take it out of you for weeks.
Happy birthday to your son, and well done on your reading challenges!

I also got my flu shot but no one else in my house did which pisses me off. Anyway, I hope you fell better soon!

Emma @ Words And Peace
So sorry you went through this! At least, you got a lot of books read, small or big consolation
Jessica @ a GREAT read
Oh no! Well, I guess at least your case wasn’t as severe as it could’ve been. I had some sort of regular flu earlier in January, like January 1! My mom had something then too and I guess I finally caught it from her after doing so well over the holiday beforehand. Hope you’re more on the mend now! But wow, hairs can hurt?! That’s insane!
Nice new read! Hope you enjoy that one!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

Oh, I’m so sorry you got flu, despite your inoculation. The last time I had flu I swore I would do anything I could to stop myself from ever getting sick with it again; it was awful.

Rachel @Waves of Fiction
I’m so sorry to hear you’re so sick, Kimberly! Influenza A is no joke! My friend just came down with it and went to Urgent Care. Said this is the sickest she been in a long time! They gave her anti-virals and she’s feeling a little better. I hope you do, too!
Lori
My youngest granddaughter had influenza A last week and that toddler was so sick. Somehow the rest of the house didn’t get it . . Yet.
I hope you get better and your strength back soon. Please take care.
Laurel-Rain Snow
So sorry you got the flu, especially since you had the shot! It sounds like you had it bad.

Taylor @ Taylor Fenner’s Bookish World
I’m so sorry you’ve been sick! I hope you’re feeling better soon.
Victoria Hamel
I’m glad you are feeling better! When even your hair hurts it’s the worst. I don’t know if I had the cold or the flu but it sucked! I started watching a new show called “Doc” It’s got a really great premise–doctor has an accident and loses all her memories from 2016- til she wakes up from the accident. Super interesting.
