There are three things you need to know about Janie Morris:

  • She is incapable of engaging in a conversation without volunteering TMTI (Too Much Trivial Information), especially when she is unnerved,
  • No one unnerves her more than Quinn Sullivan, and
  • She doesn't know how to knit.
  • After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can't help wondering what new torment fate has in store. To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan- aka Sir McHotpants- witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can't afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn - the focus of her slightly, albeit harmless, stalkerish tendencies - to make her an offer she can't refuse.

    ROMANCE smartfunny refreshing Chick-lit

Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid has long been on my backlist, and when a chance to try Audible Escape for 3 months came along, I grabbed it. Narrated by Jennifer Grace, this refreshing, awkward, delightful romance had me laughing, swooning and listening into the wee hours.

Awkward, funny, friendship, original and unique are the words that come to mind when I think of this audiobook romance.

Jennifer Grace does a fantastic job of capturing both Janie Morris and Quinn Sullivan’s unique, quirky, socially awkward characters.

This romance is a mix of women’s fiction, friendships and firsts. We witness character self-doubt, flaws and growth. There is even a suspenseful thread and a wee bit of drama that is surprisingly short-lived.

It was fun, sweet, adorkable, and I loved it but it could have been 6 hours. The story meanders a bit, but still I laughed, identified with characters and situations and even becoming involved by shaking my head and shouting ? “No, don’t do that!” or “get um.”

Would I recommend it? Yes, but I also cringe at beginning Neanderthal Marries Human (Knitting in the City #1.5), because it’s over thirteen hours. I know I will enjoy it, but the ride will be long and there will be detours. It’s on my Audible App ?not even going to lie.

Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid was an adorkable, fun RomCom with plenty of firsts. #audiobook #AudibleEscape Click To Tweet

Hmmm I remember these as really fast reads so I am surprised they are so long. I read ebooks rather than listening. I LOVE this series. The friendships, the humor and the knitting.

The title made me smile which was why I was curious about this one, and I know that a lot of people really enjoy Reid’s writing! It sounds like this romance was cute and fun but longer than it needed to be? Oh, I see why you feel a bit nervous with the one which is extra long coming up next 😛

This is the book that started my love affair with Penny Reid. It’s all the things you said – awkward, funny, quirky, etc, which made me love this, and all her other books. I am in awe that you listen to the books at that clock speed. My limit is 1.25X

I’ve snagged a few of her books because they always look fun. I do love that you found this one adorkable. Wow, long follow-up story at 13 hours. I can see why you hesitate. LOL

These are all great words to describe a book and even though this didn’t blow you away, it does sound like the series has potential. I hope the next book is even better!

thirteen hours sounds doable, I guess if u split it over a few days. I am sure it is worth it
