And it’s the first Sunday of March. We are one step closer to Spring! Yippie. For February I read/listened to 21 books. My Goodreads Challenge stands at 44/200, Audiobook Challenge at 30/125. I am making progress on other challenges as well.

The Royals are taking part in One School, One Book. The entire school is reading The Water Horse. They’ve had fun activities, are learning about Scotland, and creating their own creatures. At the end, they are having a fun night party. I love this idea and wish they did it when my kids were small.

I have been suffering from headaches almost daily and it sucks. No idea why, but wonder if it’s part of the change. Sometimes I wake up with it, but usually it hits late afternoon. My blood pressure etc is fine as I just had labs. Stay Caffeinated.

What a great bookish theme and activities for the Royals. I love it. Too bad you are having headaches, Kimberly. It could be barometric pressure, I know that gives me headaches due to sinus. I hope you have a great week, Kimberly.

  2. Jen at Introverted Reader

The kids’ book events sound fun!

I hope your headaches get better and you find a cause soon. An optometrist I used to work with would sometimes recommend that patients keep a food diary to see if there was something in their diet that was causing the headaches if he found that their vision was fine and their general doctor couldn’t find an obvious medical cause.

    Enjoy your week!

  3. MarthaE

One School, One Book sounds like a program I would like too!
Looks like you are doing well with your goals.
I’m sorry that you are suffering headaches. We are about to move into heavy pollen season which brings in headaches and sinus issues here.
I momentarily confused Kim Richardson (Hollow Cove) with Kim Harrison’s The Hallows series. I haven’t read any of the Richardson series.
Have a good week and Happy Reading!

  4. Vidya

The One School, One Book idea sounds so wonderful! And I do hope you can get to the root cause of your headaches soon so you can prevent or get over them quickly at the least.

  5. Katherine

I love the idea of One School, One Book. What a fun concept! I’m so sorry to hear about the headaches. I tend to get them at season changes. Something about the pressure I guess? I hope you have a great week!

  6. Anne – Books of My Heart

I’m so sorry you are having headaches. My daughter gets them usually and it is stress. She has special medication and does take something to lower her blood pressure slightly. They also recommend vitamin B2 riboflavin which is not readily available at drug stores. We order it on Amazon and it is places like Vitamin World or something like that. She takes the B2 and blood pressure stuff daily and the migraine meds when she gets one.

What a great idea to have the whole school read the same book! I enjoyed the film; one of these days, I should probably read the book.

I’m sorry you’ve been having regular headaches. I hope you (and your doctor) are able to figure out why, and get you some relief from them.

I’m sorry to hear about your headaches. I deal with headaches and I hate them. I hope you were/are able to figure out your triggers so you can avoid having headaches all the time!

Congrats on all the reading you did in February. I hope March is just as successful.

I like that idea for the school reading, it sounds like fun. I hope your headaches go away. I’ve been going through peri these past few years and its crazy how it affects nearly everything.
Enjoy your books, Scarlet caught my eye!

  10. Wendy

I’m so sorry about your headache’s. It’s hard to get anything done with a headache. I hope you find a solution soon. I love the idea of the One Book Once School.

  11. Meezan

Sorry to hear about your headaches. I hope they ease up soon. Glad all your labs are good, though. I hope your week goes well. 🙂

I’m so sorry you are struggling with daily headaches – it utterly sucks. And I know of what I speak, because our youngest grandson is STILL battling daily migraines which he wakes up with most mornings. We’ve tried all sorts of options – but yesterday I found a video showing a series of pressure points to ease down the pain which we’re hoping to try. I’m coming to the conclusion that it is hormonal with him as he is shooting up and his voice has completely broken within the last 3 months. Best of luck and I hope you find a solution soon, Kimberly.x

  13. Angela (Angel's Guilty Pleasures)

Bummer on the headaches. Hopeful you figure out why they are coming on and can stop them. Never fun! Nice book haul I enjoyed Heir of the Dog by Hailey Edwards and I’ve got Kim Richardson on my TBR to try. Have a fabulous Sunday!

  14. kara-karina

It might your lingering cold that is giving you headaches, K. Sometimes there are no symptoms but headache to it. Hope you feel better soon. I was tempted to request Scarlet but decided against it in the end. Enjoy!

If you are in menopause, then that is probably the reason for your headaches. The doctor can help with meds. My cousin went through this, but the doctor found a med that helps with her headaches.

  16. Jen

Thank you for hosting this link up. Looks like some good books!
    Have a great week

  17. A Voracious Reader

Menopause is really evil. No, seriously. We deal with periods (and any accompanying issues) for decades, go through pregnancy (and those issues), childbirth (again, more issues), and what’s our reward after all of that? Menopause. For fuck’s sake. I’m glad I finally had a year without periods so I’m actually in menopause now, but all the other issues relating to it are just…fuck this. And I know I’m lucky because mine are mild. I can’t even. Anyway, rant over. lol I hope the headaches go away.

  18. Lover of Romance

I honestly can’t wait for springtime! Headaches affect everyone differently. I hope they get better soon though. Try some electrolytes, that always helps my headaches. In winter it can be so easy to get dehydrated. Looks like you have some great books that you grabbed up this week! Hope you have a wonderful week!

  19. Jodie

I’m sorry to hear about your headaches. It must be very frustrating. Could it be coming from your neck? I hope you have a better week ahead and enjoy all your new books.

  20. Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out

Menopause invokes such a delightful range of symptoms (heavy on the sarcasm). HRT might be an option to discuss with your doctor.

Wishing you a great week of reading

  21. Jessica @ a GREAT read

One School, One Book sounds like a cool idea! That would’ve been fun when I was younger too! I mean we read books together as a class but never the whole school. Sorry to hear about your headaches! I hope they get better or at least manageable! I guess I didn’t realize headaches were apart of that oh so fun change. My mom never seem to have them badly at least. I know when I had some pretty terrible ones, it ended up being something entirely different…so hoping it’s not that for you! Fingers crossed that it is related to the normal change and that they can be managed. Headaches are terrible for the reader, sending you healing thoughts your way! *<3*<3*

Nice new reads too! Those are all new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

The Bones of the Story is right up my alley. I am adding this to my TBR shelf. I had headaches like your describing as well through mine, and it was sometimes very unbearable. I got them so bad at times, I would just sit and cry. I know how it feels, and I am sorry to hear that your experiencing this. I hope you have a relaxing Sunday 😊

  23. Sophie

I don’t know if by the change you mean menopausis but I had much more headache when I was headed to menopausis so maybe that’s it indeed? Anyway I hope they’ll stop next week Kimberly because it’s such a plague!

  24. Rachel @Waves of Fiction

What a nice way to encourage reading for kids! Sorry to hear you’ve been having headaches! I hope they go away. I’m looking forward to spring! I’m over snow.

  25. Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)

I would wonder about the weather being the issue behind the headaches for sure. I don’t know about you but we have just been on a roller coaster with temperatures here. It was cold this week, then this weekend has been beautiful, very spring like. And then the news last night said we were going to have some colder than normal days coming up this week. I hope you get to feeling better!

One School, One Book What a great idea. I wonder if my grandchildren’s schools do anything like that. I hope your headaches go away, it may not hurt to just touch base with your doctor if they continue. The change hits us all differently but I do remember some headaches with the hot flashes. Take care,

  27. Jill

My son’s school does one school/one book. They’re doing Agatha Christie. I think it’s a great idea.

Could your headaches be allergies? The pollen started early here this year.

  28. Greg

That school activity sounds neat. I wish we would have had that as well. I hope you get some relief from the headaches. I’m so glad we’re in to March. This winter has been so dreary… ready for spring!
