Finished our taxes and what the state gave, the feds took-ith away…lol. I don’t understand how we pay more in taxes than the Donald… but it’s done for another year. Ugh. We got eight inches of snow on Thursday- so Nonna got a snow day. I caught up on my reviews and finished Scorpion. Now to find another series to binge. We went to the Children’s Museum on Friday with all three grandbabies. Four hours of non-stop fun. Mr. Caffeinated and I were wiped out! The kids sure had a blast. I loved all the stem games, crafts and learn through play they offered. Stay Caffeinated.

Ugh I’ve got to get my taxes done soon. Not looking forward to it. The snow day sounds lovely and the Children’s Museum sounds so fun! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week.

  2. sjhigbee

The day out sounds wonderful – but I completely understand about feeling exhausted afterwards:)). That sounds like a lot of snow – so far, we’ve been spared and I’m keeping fingers and toes crossed it stays that way! Have a good week, Kimberly.

Loop holes, off-shore accounts etc, etc. The tax laws are set up to benefit them, and they have the funds to find them.

  3. Laurel-Rain Snow

I also have left my taxes behind, and while I got some back from the state, had to pay half of it to the Feds! I can’t believe some hardly pay anything, like the Donald.

    Enjoy your week!

    • Kimberly

Yep. Warren Buffett said, “When my secretary pays more in taxes than I do, something is wrong with the tax laws.”

  4. Erica

I do not want to finish my taxes; I know I will not be happy with the turnout, that’s for sure.

8 inches of snow? Hope ya’ll are staying warm. We got snow on Friday, but this week it’ll be 70 degrees. I’m in Ohio and this weather is messing with my head haha.

I hope you have a great weekend coming up!

  5. Wendy

Wow, eight inches of snow is a lot! I’m hanging with my grand nieces and I know what you mean about how tiring the young ones can be! Have a great week, Kimberly

    • Kimberly

I had so much energy when my babies were young…but after an 8 hour day with the grandbabies I need a nap….LOL

  6. Berls

We always do our taxes at the last possible moment – I guess because it pisses us off to know that we work so hard and taxes are always never in our favor in the way it is for so many of Kiko’s coworkers who are already getting so much government assistance. And then you have people like Donald 🤬

The children’s museum sounds like a great time – and exhausting! Hope you have a great week!

  7. LORI CASWELL

We got about 5 inches of snow Thursday but later than I thought it was coming. Sounds like a fun day with the kiddos. Have a great week!! Stay warm!

  8. A Voracious Reader

No snow here, but it did get pretty chilly for a few nights. I think Spring is going to start settling in. I feel that tiredness. We had the grandkiddos for an overnight (they have so much energy!) then went to the NHL Stadium Series game in Raleigh and didn’t get to bed until around 1am. I am so so sooooooooooo tired today. lol

Last week it warmed up, and the birds were out and about…I told them not to be fooled…lol We have had snow here as late as May.

  9. Jinjer

Oh gawd…I’ve been so busy cleaning out the house so it can be sold and I can move, I forgot all about filing my taxes. And then NEXT YEAR I can look forward to paying state taxes in two states + whatever nightmare proceeds from a house sale and inheriting your mother’s IRA, etc. adds to one’s tax bracket. And yah, like you said, why does The Donald get off so cheap?

Museum day with The Grands sounds FUN!!!!

    • Kimberly

We’ve done the dual state tax return several times….it wasn’t too bad. Just a pain in the arse. As long as you buy a home or the sales are less than 500,000, you should be ok. Just be sure to have all improvement receipts you did. Like roof, windows, etc.

  10. Bookworm

Ugh taxes! Don’t even get me started lol. The museum sounds so fun. Enjoy your books this week! I’ve had my eye on Love, Theoretically.

  11. Jodie

Another great haul! Yes besides Netgalley I use Edelweiss+ and am part of Libro.fm’s influencer program. I am also an influencer for several publishers. Have a great week ahead!

  12. Lover of Romance

haha thats because he understands the tax laws in and out. If he was doing anything illegal the IRS would be after him for it, but as long as you stay within the bounds of the law they can’t do anything about it. I know many that understand that tax law and get around paying less lol so jealous

I love the covers for the Sherry Thomas books! I really need to pick that series up soon. I hope you end up loving that one.

    • Kimberly

Hmm, maybe, not so much for his businesses. We need to close the loopholes, when someone making less than 200,000 pays more taxes.

I hope you read her books; they are marvelous.

  13. Lola

I’ll have to do taxes again soon too. Glad to hear you got yours done for another year. That’s nice you got a snow day and your visit to the children’s museum sounds like a success too. I hope you have a good week!

  14. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Ugh. I still need to get going on my taxes. I thought I might try for next weekend when my mom might be more available in case I have questions! Lol. I’m an adult and yet I still get a bit confused with these things! She’s out of town this weekend, so I thought hopefully next Sunday when she shouldn’t have anything going on and would be around in case I needed to ask her something! She’s watching my niece for a long weekend and I can honestly see the niece talking her into keeping her the rest of the week and through next weekend and she can be a handful…so yeah…lol.

Nice new reads! Those are all new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy each and every one of them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  15. Sophie

It indeed sounds like you had a lot of fun! And it’s the same in Belgium with taxes Kimberly. And I think the Donald has lawyers and accountants for that LOL

  16. Jill

I was trying to stay up until Midnight to link. I made it until 11:45 and next thing I knew the cat was waking me up for breakfast. Your museum trip sounds fun. Happy reading!

  17. Jorie

    Hallo, Hallo,

Gosh. I had so much transpire within the last week, taxes are so far off in my mind of what I need to accomplish – of which you’ll better understand if you swing by my post this week. Aye. I’d love to get lost in a snowstorm — our humidity is returning too quickly and I’m miserable! 🙁 I ache for cold weather to remain until at least April… aye. In other news, I read a prequel and a first novel in a Cosy series that I”m enjoying and I took that as a win personally as it helped me reaffirm myself back into reading. As per usual now this is more of a life update than a bookish one but I am finding these journals of #TheSundayPost to be very cathartic and I’m happy for them.

      • Jorie

OOh! Bless you!! I’ll take it by the buckets of snow and the dearly lovely chilly air blasts!! Anything to extend Winter. I feel the same as you about Summer. You really can be burnt out on weather/climate if it becomes all too consuming and insane. Blessings to you!

  18. Tessa

Ours taxes are usually like that too. We get a refund on the state level and pay on the federal level. Seems like it would be the other way around. But, oh, well! Glad you enjoyed your snow day and we’re able to get things done. Have a good week!

  19. Mark

Now that my Christmas trees are down (but not yet in the garage, about to do that step), I’m thinking I may try to tackle my taxes with what is left of my weekend. Would be very nice to have that behind me. But we will see if it happens or not. I do have an extra day to do it since I’m off Monday as well.

  20. Greg

The museum tripsounds fun but I can totally relate to how exhausting that would be! 🙂 And snow. We got dumped on too and the roads were a MESS.

Take care and have a great weekend 🙂
