What a week. On Tuesday, I was enjoying a cuppa and watching NCIS when I heard a noise out back. The underground cable boxes and utilities for our block are in the corner of our property. Men were out there putting in underground cables. Whelp, my internet went out, so I went out there and asked if they were with my provider. They were with Cox. I let them know my cable was out, and they denied it was their doing. Pfft. So I had no internet until Friday and low and behold, they severed my line and four of my neighbors. Thankfully, CenturyLink fixed it. They have to come back to do more work because Cox cut the lines and they’ll need to be completely replaced. So, I am behind on reviews, work, etc. On the upside, I did a lot of reading this week, and I am now one book ahead for my Goodreads goal and blasted past my Audiobook Challenge goal. Gotta look at the bright side. Go Phillies! Stay Caffeinated.

Grr… I hate it when workmen digging around refuse to take responsibility! We had a similar issue regarding our mains water. One of the water company vans was parked right outside the house and suddenly all the pipes in the house rattled and banged. It stirred up all the muck so that the stuff coming out of the taps was a disgusting muddy mess that clogged up the washing machine, the toilet flush and the boiler – and they tried to claim it wasn’t their fault!!! Fortunately I was home at the time and they had to come back and fix it. Hope you can get some compensation for the inconvenience from Cox.

  2. A Voracious Reader

Ah, the ol’ “We didn’t do it.” as they are digging around. Yeah. Right. Idiots. At least it was just internet and cable (which are bad enough) and not a total electrical black out. Eeeee.

  3. MarthaE

How frustrating to have a careless work crew cut your lines. And, yes, Yay for extra reading time.
I met both my TBR and Audio challenge goals last week.
Hope you have a better work/review week this week.
    Happy Reading!

  4. Carole @ Carole's Random Life

I am convinced that the crews they send out to put in new lines have no training. They are all over the place in my neighborhood digging up yards to lay cable. I dread the day that they get to my street. I am glad you were able to get service restored. Have a great week!

  5. Laurie

What a frustrating start to the week. I’m glad they were able to get you back up and running again and that you squeezed in some reading time.

  6. Lynn

That sound like a very frustrating and annoying ordeal! I hope everything will be in working order soon!

I hope you’ll have a wonderful (and less irritating) week!

  7. sherry fundin

That sucks. Of course, they are going to deny they did anything. Every since AT&T came through with underground cables under my driveway, I have huge cracks running through it. I keep thinking, if I have the concrete ripped up, maybe, I’ll just put shells or rocks down instead of redoing the concrete. At least there was a silver lining. 🙂 Have a great week.

Oh wow, I’m sorry about your internet troubles, what a pain. Happy reading this week, and Happy Halloween 🙂

  9. Wendy Williams

That is so FRUSTRATING! When our internet goes out for an hour we all get so frustrated, I can’t imagine not having internet for almost a week. Glad it’s. up for now, and I hope you don’t have any more outages.

  10. Meezan

Wow, what a pain and major inconvenience to have to experience that. My internet was out the previous week, but only for one day and it was an easy fix. I hope you’re all up and running smoothly now. Have a great week! 🙂

  11. LORI CASWELL

It is so frustrating when people don’t take responsibility for their actions. If I had to go 3-4 days without cable and internet I would probably go crazy especially now with my husband working at home again. Hope your week goes better this week.

  12. Lola

What a pain you were without internet so long because they cut your cables. Glad it is fixed for now, but that sounds really frustrating to be without internet for so long. I hope next week is a good one!

  13. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Pfft. Love how they say they didn’t do it. Yes, we are working out here in the ground with the cables but we didn’t cut yours. I mean when you encounter that kind of stupidity I always find it hard to react…because I mean, yes, you did do it! Lol. Well, glad you were able to get caught up on other things during the wait! I wouldn’t know what to do, especially since I work from home and actually need the internet for that part! My sanity with blogging and whatnot can be set aside. Lol.

Nice new reads! I am still 2 books behind on Jennifer’s series. She writes too darn fast for me! Lol. I’ve a few of her other titles on my TBR still too! I miss the days where I could just sit and read and not have any adult responsibilities! Why did those have to happen when my TBR pile was non-existent? Lol.

    Happy Reading!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

Of course they denied cutting it. OF COURSE, right? This has happened to me SO MANY TIMES that I can’t even count. Both with Verizon here in my house and back in Brooklyn. Back in Brooklyn, they would come to install cable for someone else in my building, see the panel was all filled up, UNHOOK MINE, plug the other person in, and then leave!! Because they were too lazy to figure out how to get everyone in the same box. God, I hated that. They were big on denial. DENY DENY DENY. Lol. Sigh. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Oh no! What a horrible thing to have happened. We have had cables cut in our area 1-2x year for the copper in the cable. It’s an all day repair but several days is a nightmare. I hope you have a better week ahead.

  16. Emma @ Words And Peace

wow crazy that they accidentally cut the wires! It’s not that simple to do!
It’s good there are always books around to read when life doesn’t go as expected!

  17. BonnieReadsAndWrites

Sure, the men digging in the backyard had nothing to do with the cables being cut! Unbelievable how people never want to accept responsibility. I’m glad your internet is back!

  18. Sophie

Ha damn Kimberly! I would have become mad! I just explained in my post that I was one day at work without connection at all for the whole day and I was becoming stir crazy already! I hope they sort everything out properly very soon! Hugs!

  19. Jill

Those kind of incidents are so infuriating. I hope you can catch up this week. Go Phillies!

  20. Emily @Budget Tales Book Blog

What an absolute nightmare! We would be lost without our internet. Not only for blogging, but we actually watch more catch up TV than live TV! It shows what sort of household we have become…

Have a good week next week!

Losing Wifi out of nowhere is rough but in my own recent experiences it has always been a really fruitful reading period xD I hope it all gets sorted quickly though because it can really impact work as well! I hope you have a lovely upcoming week 🙂

I’ve had that happen in the last year regarding one internet company cutting my internet from a different company’s lines. The repair guy, as luck would have it, was right around the corner at someone else’s house and came right over – catching the people who cut the line in the act of digging and my cable was quickly fixed. Glad you got your internet back. It’s so hard to deal without internet.

  23. Katherine

Oh how frustrating about the cables being severed but am glad your provider was able to fix it. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  24. Greg

AT&T were out doing work in our area too, laying fiber and they were tearing up everyone’s lawn for weeks. I was so sure they were going to cut a cable and my internet would go out, but miraculously they didn’t. I’m sorry that happened- how frustrating. Ergh.

  25. Kelly Lyn @ Lifestyle of Me

The same happened to me a couple years ago. they were digging late on a friday night and they refused to fix it, then it got fixed and then they cut it 3 more times in different areas. I was so fed up with my internet company because they had to hire out a 3rd party company because they were putting in so many fiber optic lines all over their service areas.
