oh my, it looks like we are returning back to the dark ages indeed with this ruling.. like you say, words are an escape indeed..

  2. Jen at Introverted Reader

We were out of town this weekend so I didn’t have time to process the ruling. The reality is setting in today as I read a bit about the written opinions and the threats presented to the rights of other groups. What is happening to us? I always vote in primaries and general elections, even if we have to mail in absentee ballots.

    Enjoy your week!

I am clearly in the minority view (among book bloggers) on the rulings this week. I give a small explanation in my post.
Voting is important for all of us. And calm, informed discussions are good too.
I hope you have a good week and Happy Reading!

  4. Stephanie@Fairday's Blog

I agree! Voting is so important. I recently moved and need to go and change my voting registration to my new town. No elections here soon- but soon enough. Need to be ready!

My home state is California which is all about women’s rights but I’m currently here in Arkansas, taking care of my 95-yo mom, and I’ve been here long enough to vote so you can rest assured this California girl will be voting for women’s rights (and anyone else’s rights) as long as I’m here in this politically nightmarish state.

I am BEYOND furious that a handful of men just took away one of my rights.

  6. Wendy

I agree, Kimberly. Such tough times. We always vote, and I make sure my kids and their friends vote too!

  7. Lover of Romance

I am really loving the book that you added to your library, I love that cover, it has me so intrigued. I am really looking forward to that review you have there from Brian Feehan, I need to get that ARC read this week.

  8. Joanne

I’m glad you mentioned this. I wasn’t sure if the book community would. I am not American and even I (especially as there are so many gender issues in my own country) could not begin my last post without speaking on it. Books are my happy place but I can’t stay there all the time and in the real world it’s unreal.

  9. LORI CASWELL

Yes, it was a sad week. I did a rant in my post today. I just couldn’t hold it in.

Hope we can all find a little cheer this week as we start to plan our revenge at the ballot box.

I was shocked when I heard the Supreme Courts decision. This is not the America I know and love. As if your country is going backwards in big steps. So yes, I agree with you. Go and make your voice heard. Despite that, I use books to escape too. Although it isn´t working at the moment. Not sure if it´s me or the book. Have a hopefully great new week and happy reading.

A dark week indeed. I’m leaning on books to keep me from despair. And I will vote, as I always have for people and policies that reflect my ideals and the ideals I was taught were fundamental to our country (even if we haven’t always lived up to them.)

Hi Kimberly, the world is going mad for sure. It’s been literally dark here in South Africa with severe load shedding, water shedding… Hope is the thing that feathers that appears to be flying away.

Thinking of you guys. Strongs for your week ahead.

My heart is breaking for all of you Kimberly. I couldn’t not talk about it on my blog today too, even if I live in a country where our rights are protected. Hugs.

It was a dark week. I hope things get better in the future without causing too much damage.
I just love the cover of The Witches of Moonshyne Manor. That is going on my TBR.
