Another busy week. Clayton had a dental procedure done that required anesthesia. His parents said he was a trooper. The Royals schools dropped to four days in school and one day of eLearning to try and ease the pressure due to illnesses. They had 188 teachers out on Thursday. It’s in place until mid-February and they’ll address it again then. In the meantime Nonna will be donning her teacher cap one day a week. Elbow hugs! Stay Caffeinated.

dental procedures, and requiring anesthesia at that – hope he feels all better soon…. And am sure they love “Nonna teacher” !!!

  2. sjhigbee

Ahhh… poor little mite! It’s rough having to cope with dental procedures when you’re so small and kudos to him for doing so well. Best of luck with the home-schooling stint – my heart goes out to all the carers who are having to step into the breach throughout the pandemic. Elbow hugs back atch, Kimberly and I hope you and yours keep healthy:). Have a good week.

I like time travel so I have to check out some you have been reading/listening to.
Teaching the little ones on a limited basis can be fun.
    Hope you are staying healthy.
    Stay warm and Happy Reading!

  4. Mary Kirkland

Our schools haven’t gone back to elearning but all the schools did close for a full week in order to let some of the kids and teachers get better after a bunch of them got sick.

Happy Sunday! I am a student and have watched as some of my classmates attending other schools have also been moving online for the next few weeks due to the COVID precautions. At the moment my semester is planned to be in-person, but I suppose we will see how it goes. Wishing you well. 🙂

It’s great to hear the schools are making efforts and trying some different things to reduce illness and provide a good learning opportunity. It’s definitely rough. We are staying home all the time and having deliveries. I don’t mind and Lulu and I get out in the yard and walk.

Oh I’m looking forward to your review of Reminders of Him. I’ve been wanting to read that one.

sending you all the positive vibes for your school situation. I am a full time homeschool mom and my friends who have their kids in school are at their wits end with the school district. can only hope that they get their act together and actually help these teachers and

Why not just go to total online, at-home school and be done with this in-person learning? (Asks the clueless, childless person)

Will Clayton’s parents be submitting one of those hilarious post-dental procedure videos to America’s Funniest Videos? I live for those.

Hope everything goes well and wish you a lovely week. Loved the news arrivals:) Thanks for creating this blog news meme, it’s my first time trying it!

Hey there! I hop this coming week is a good one for you. We had schools shut down on Friday here due to staffing shortages. I think our issue was that we didn’t have the staff to bus them. Also a pork processing plant couldn’t operate for at least one shift and that NEVER happens. I keep saying one of these days but I’m not sure when it’s going to come.

My grandson’s school to an extra long weekend last week in hopes of staving off the virus, so far it has been working. fingers and toes crossed.

    Have a great week!

I love Colleen Hoover normally, but some of her books just don’t have characters that I connect with, just based on my own personal life. This is one I can’t decide about for sure! I like the idea of four days in person, one day elearning, but my district probably won’t do that. I think it is a great idea though! My library assistant’s kids both have to have dental procedures at a hospital because of health issues so she’s told me about how that can be. Glad to hear that Clayton did well with that. Have a great week!

It’s so hard when your kids have to go under anesthesia so young – Dante had surgery at 9 months and it was so hard on us, but he was fine 😂, acted as if nothing had happened.

Stay safe! I’m glad the school is trying to do something to reduce the strain and also maybe even reduce transmission a bit 🤞🏼good luck with your teacher hat. Stay safe!

  15. A Voracious Reader

Honestly, I think the whole country should shut down for 2 weeks. Completely shut down. Tighter than 2020’s. Vaccinated essential employees go to work, the rest stay home without pay (unless they have a medical exemption). Masks and social distancing mandatory for essential employees. All items pick up only (order online or place an order from your car if you don’t have online access). Gov’t hands out a stimulus check to every single person whether they work durting this time or not. I think it would cut way down on the transmission rate. But it would be a massive effort and sacrifice required by too many and what should have been done in 2020 won’t get done now. Just my opinion. *shrugs*

  16. Samantha

We have had major staffing shortages at my school too. We had to shut down 3 days a week ago. My students are all in very rural areas, so elearning isn’t an option. Hopefully you enjoy donning your teacher hat!

  17. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Yeah it seems a lot of schools lately seem to be changing their learning systems. Sadly my sister still has to go in everyday. I know she’s had to be out for 3 weeks almost due to Covid illnesses in the household. First her daughter, then all her kids, then she got it…it’s been a nightmare. Hope the little ones do well with e-learning!

Nice new reads! Some new to me ones except for Kelley’s new book! I read that one and really enjoyed it! It was a bit different for Kelley’s usual book style but I still liked it and will continue with the series! Hope you enjoy all the lovely new reads!

I am glad to hear Clayton’s dental procedure went well. That’s awesome you got A Rip Through Time! I am really looking forward to that one. Have a great week!

  19. Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out

The new school year starts here in a week and our government is refusing to acknowledge that’s it’s going to be a sh*tshow as it spreads amongst teachers and students. It’s so frustrating

  20. Bookworm

Hope you are all staying well and good luck with the teaching one day a week. Nonna’s are the best. Enjoy your books! I need to read Jodi Picoult. I still haven’t.

  21. Anstice Brown

The school dropping to 4 days sounds like a good idea to take the pressure off some of the staff. I work in a school in the UK and everyone is overloaded right now. My husband is a teacher too and is currently off work with Covid, but I’m still testing negative.

  22. Louise Hallett

I work in a UK alternative education provision, most staff seem to have ended up with Covid during the holidays but at least we’ve managed to keep open and keep teaching! Enjoy the time with your grandson.

  23. Sophie

I think Clayton is a cham because dental procedure are no picnic! I know it because I had one this week. Good luck nona with your teacher cap. I hope that we’ll see the end of this pandemy one day because it changes so many things!

  24. Literary Feline

I hope the new strategy for giving the schools relief in your area helps. My daughter’s Girl Scout meetings have returned to virtual for the time being, but school is still in-person with no alternations for the time being.

I love the cover of A Rip Through Time. I will have to look that one up. I hope you have a safe and great week!

  25. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Poor Clayton! I’m glad he came through the procedure just fine.
I wish our schools here would do something to ease things. I really feel for the teachers, the kids, and their families. All this uncertainty from day to day, and having so many people out sick, is tough on everyone. And there are no perfect solutions.

I hope the kids enjoy their learning experiences now, and that they stay well.

You have some good books. I also got a copy of Reminders of Him. Looking forward to it.

  27. Katherine

Our schools just went virtual again mostly due to staff shortages due to Covid increases. I’m so glad we homeschool because I can’t imagine how insane this makes things for everyone involved. I hope the schedule works well for the Royals. Have a wonderful week!

  28. Greg

Wow it’s really bad out there now. Good luck with the teaching! We were just exposed here too through work so… here we go again! I hope everyone stays healthy. And yay for Clayton!

    Stay safe out there!
