I am enjoying Kelley Armstrong’s historical time travel fantasy series, A Stitch in Time, and was delighted to read the holiday novella Snowstorms & Sleigh Bells featuring the couples from booking the first two novels. Romance, adventure and the magic of Christmas await you…

It’s a Victorian Christmas at Thorne Manor, and Rosalind Courtenay is staying far, far away from the door that leads to the twenty-first century. It took her four years to get back home, and she’s never going near the time stitch again. But her five-year-old son has other plans, and Rosalind finds herself plunged back into the modern world, where she decides to face her fears and give her family the holiday gift of a lifetime. Once again, Fate has other ideas, sending a blizzard to derail Rosalind’s cautious planning and toss them all into a whirlwind of savage snowstorms, spectral sleigh bells and, perhaps, a Christmas ghost or two.

historical Holiday ROMANCE Time Travel

Snowstorms & Sleigh Bells takes place after the events of Twist of Fate and its Christmas at Thorne Manor. With her brother-in-law descending on their home, Rosalind and her family are celebrating at Thorne Manor. Rosalind intends to stay far away from the stitch in time… that is, until her five-year-old son crosses over into the modern world.

Soon Rosalind, August and Edmund are exploring the modern world. From car rides to ghostly specters, the story was delightful. Armstrong shares the modern world with Rosalind’s family, but the author also explores the affects of PTSD. The characteristics were well presented and seamlessly woven into the story.

While getting an introduction into the next full-length novel A Turn of the Tide, we are also treated to Rosalind teaching her family about different times and religious celebrations during the holiday season, including Jewish traditions. I am excited about Miranda’s story!

We get to see William and Bronwyn and updates on their lives. The story was a treat and made an excellent epilogue of Rosalind’s story. I recommend reading/listening to this series in order.

About Kelley Armstrong

Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. All efforts to make her produce "normal" stories failed. Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in her basement writing dungeon. She's the author of the NYT-bestselling "Women of the Otherworld" paranormal suspense series and "Darkest Powers" young adult urban fantasy trilogy, as well as the Nadia Stafford crime series. Armstrong lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and far too many pets.

The cover reminds me a little of the Doctor Who Christmas episode involving the Snowmen. This is an author I’ve really been wanting to read.

I have read something similar, but it was more of a murder mystery. I might give this one a go one day
