Some secrets fight to stay hidden.
When a newlywed woman vanishes in an alligator-infested swamp, vigilante assassin Silence Jones knows someone needs to be eliminated - he just can’t determine who that person is.
He soon discovers that the missing bride had been investigating a shadowy group, one whose power has gone unchallenged for decades. As Silence scrambles to piece together the fragments of the woman’s unfinished work, he unearths a scheme more twisted than he could have possibly imagined.
To figure out who needs a bullet between the eyes, Silence must root out a dark subculture that has infected a city for years - and take on a villain who’s willing to destroy countless lives to cover his tracks.
The next stand-alone action thriller in the pulse-pounding new series. Enter the world of Silence Jones. Hold on tight....
If you like action heroes with the steely resolve of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, the calculating will of Gregg Hurwitz’s Orphan X, and the raw power of Mark Greaney’s Gray Man, then you’ll love Silence Jones.
Silence Jones is a man of few words, thanks to an injury that makes speech painful, but that doesn’t stop him from seeking justice. Carter hooked me from the start as a young woman flees into the alligator infested swamps as danger follows her.
Jones is asked to take on the case by the woman’s husband. He needs answers. He believes she is dead, but her father isn’t willing to pursue it. It’s a complicated case, as Jones soon discovers. Amber is the daughter of a retired and powerful/crooked cop. Silence learned she was investigating a criminal group that runs the city.
Twist, turns, confessions and Jones’ signature investigative skills made for an interesting case that held me captive. Silence finds himself in danger, but fearless and ruthlessly roots out the culprits.
I loved the side threads of Jones’ life, like his neighbor and the cat. Even though he is an anti-hero and works outside of the law, Silence has his own rules and you can’t help but appreciate him. I have a feeling if we shared coffee, he’d sit there silently while I confessed all my darkest secrets.
Fans of suspenseful thrillers will love this series. I recommend listening to the audiobooks. Gary Bennett has captured Silence Jones from his mannerisms to scratchy voice. We spend time in Silence’s head and Bennett brings him to life. His pacing and tone enhance this fast-paced, engaging thriller.

Reading this book contributed to these challenges:
Silence is golden, as always. The title definitely does not have the killer vibe =D but I guess that is part of the charm
Oh this sounds good Kim thanks for sharing Happy New Year
