Send good thoughts Clayton’s way. The poor little man is having serious tummy troubles and is under doctor’s care. We have been on vacation this week. The first half was a staycation. I took care of Clayton since he wasn’t able to attend preschool. Then Sophia got sick with a high fever and scary cough, so she had a rapid test on Thursday. Oh boy, did she put up a fight! It was negative, but she missed school for two days. Our oldest daughter (breastfeeding momma of Hazel) was exposed to Covid, so she was sent home from work Thursday afternoon. She can return Wednesday after a rapid test on Tuesday. So far, she and Hazel are fine. The second half of our vacation, Mr. Caffeinated and I traveled to Kansas. We explored outdoor gardens, visited historic sites and relaxed. We will travel home today.
During the month of August, I read/listened to 16 books. I am at 139/200 for Goodreads Challenge and 85/100 for the Audiobook Challenge. Elbow hugs! Stay Caffeinated.

Hallo, Hallo,….
What I would give to take a holiday!! It has been such an adversely hard Summer here that I could use a road trip elsewhere to reset my spirits. Yours sounded divine – as that is the kind of trip I’d enjoy myself. I’ve never been to Kansas but have heard good things! 🙂 I’ve taken stock of July & August this time round, whilst giving a nod to the joy of writing an essay for Austen in August wherein I spoke about my pursuit of Austen on Audio! (big grins) I also took a look at my September reads… however, I wanted to thank you for the advance notices for your October & November readathons! I sometimes forget when those begin and now I can keep a note to remind me!! Blessed.

Vi @Inkvotary
Sorry to hear that the Royals have become sick. I am glad that both tests were negative. We have one last week of vacation next week and a partly heated discussion going on about digital equipment, new air conditions (most schools don´t have them) and how to handle the new covid situation with the Delta mutation and fall/winter coming up. It is crazy. Glad you had a wonderful vacation. I made a note about the upcoming readathons. Glad they will happen again this year. Happy reading and have a great new week ahead.

Jessica @ a GREAT read
Oh no! Sorry to hear about every get sick. I don’t blame Sophia for having a hard time with the rapid test. Seeing those makes me cringe and I’d rather not take one myself either. Glad you were able to enjoy some of your vacation though! I miss getting away from it all!
Nice new reads! I find myself hesitant with Kristoff’s book. I guess since last time around when I gave Nevernight a try after all the early buzz I couldn’t get into it. But this one does have vampires, soooo I might have to try it at some point!
Here’s my StS

Where before any cough or sniffle would be brushed aside, now I think covid and rush for the rapid flow test kit! Will that change? Possibly not.
Glad to hear that you and Hubby are enjoying some time away, Kimberly.
Travel home safely. x
Kimberly
No, because anytime they have a virus that presents with a fever, they must get test results before returning to school.
Louise Hallett
We worry at each cough and sniffle now. Is it only a couple of years ago we would have told them they were fine and sent them off to school – now we all panic and worry until we have a test!
I wish I could get on with audio books – I’d manage to get through so much more of my TBR list!
jessicabookworm
