thriller SUSPENSE HORRIFIC Audiobook

Narrated by Ryan Lee Dunlap Order of the Void by Robert Vaughn invites listeners along for a strange tale when internet vlogger Jeffery Bailey receives a strange package from the mother of his recently deceased friend. The item inside suggests his death wasn’t a simple home invasion gone wrong.

In the box, Bret’s mother gave him is a thumb drive containing a video of a bizarre ritualistic murder. It appears the murder was done by a cult who worship someone/thing called “Rojachar.” This gave way to a twisted thriller with occult overtones.

While Jeffery reports this information to the police and turns over the thumb drive, he himself investigates. Told mainly in first person, Jeffery documents his discovers on his video blog. Soon two operatives from the United States Special Security Agency are at his door. He ignores their warning to stop pursuing his investigation and vows to uncover and stop the cult that killed his friend.

This was a fun, thrilling story and I loved that it involved a vlogger and all the trappings that come with it, from posting info as he discovers it, to interviews with ex cult members. All of this leads vlogger Jeffery B. into danger. Thankfully, Special Security Agents Hayes and Miller offer aid because our boy Jeffery is making some people very unhappy, and it’s a deadly game.

From the gathering of clues to the consequences of his investigation, Vaughn weaved a suspenseful tale. Devin Highmore leads the cult known as the Order of The Void. Vaughn shared some unique twists on superstition and lore. It was different, fresh, and came with some high stakes implications.

Jeffery was a likeable character and his pursuit of answers, vlogger world, and actions felt genuine. From the unexpected ending to the discoveries and lessons, I enjoyed this tale and look forward to listening to more stories from Robert Vaughan.

Ryan Lee Dunlap narrates and was new to me. I listened at normal speed before bumping it up to 1.3x a place I found comfortable without losing the nuances of his voice. He provided different voices and switched easily between them. While his delivery could feel monotone, he provided an enjoyable listen and I would try another narration from him.

a little creepy on the cover side, didn’t look like a thriller (more like a horror) to me
