Just when I thought I’d finally gotten my life back on track, the unexpected happens.

It’s the annual Night Festival in Hollow Cove, a paranormal festival extravaganza that lasts for five nights and features a multitude of powerful faces in our paranormal circles.

There’s only one little problem. Someone ends up dead. And I’m the one accused of murder.

As my life spirals down the crapper once again, things between me and Marcus are even more confusing than ever before—hot—but ridiculously confusing. And to add to my wondrous good fortune—something or someone is trying to kill me.

So, what is a witch do to? Find the culprit and clear my name, that’s what

magical MURDERMYSTERY Small-town urban

We are back in Hollow Cove with Tessa, in Midnight Spells by Kim Richardson. Narrated by Devon Sorvari, Tessa finds herself the number one suspect in a murder investigation. Spells, a goat, and mischief await you.

Midnight Spells is the second audiobook in the Witches of Hollow Cove paranormal series. With its small-town setting and unique cases, the series has a cozy mystery vibe fans will enjoy. While each story contains its own mystery, I recommend listening to them in the order of their release.

Tessa and her Aunts dress up and attend the annual Night Festival in Hollow Cove. Hosted by Hollow Cove this paranormal festival lasts for five nights and attracts powerful members within the paranormal community. The event has a carnival type atmosphere with tents, stands and fun events. You’ll see strange sites, performances and activities.

Tessa and Ronin visit a seers tent before her Aunts call her over to meet powerful members of the Merlins. Things don’t go well when she sees something the other’s cannot. The Merlins aren’t impressed with Tessa’s lineage and outraged that she hasn’t gone through the Merlin trials. All of that takes a backseat when the seer is discovered murdered and Tessa was the last one to see her alive.

After Marcus takes her in for questioning, the attendees of the festival believe Tessa is a murderer and they don’t take kindly to one of their own being murdered. Tessa needs to clear her name.

Things are awkward with Marcus and a sexy witch is courting Tessa. The tale that unfolds had some over the top moments cue ey roll, and moment that made me belly laugh. But it also brought danger and plenty of suspense when Tessa becomes a target.

The Aunts are a hoot and I enjoyed moments in the kitchen with them from their zany spells to how supportive they are of their niece. I love the world the author has created and I am very curious about a new character we meet. I hope she’ll be in the next audiobook.

Midnight Spells delivered a fast-paced tale with quirky characters, suspense, snark and the unexpected. The series is available in Kindle Unlimited, but I recommend you opt for the audiobook. Devon Sorvari narrates and does a splendid job of capturing Tessa and the others. She enhanced this clever tale and made listening a pleasure.
