What a crazy, bitter cold week. They canceled trash collection and schools. We saw wind chills of -38. We never left the house and had the fire going. Thankfully, we had no issues with power. We prayed for friends in Texas and are happy they’ve got heat now. My oldest will be thirty on Tuesday. How? I am not old enough. Ok, ok, Mr. Caffeinated informed me I will be fifty-five in October, so I am in fact old enough. SMH. @$%^! Elbow hugs! Stay Caffeinated.

Whew, that’s really cold! I’m glad you didn’t have power issues. I didn’t either, but I got a bit of snow. Eastern KY got hit bad too, along with Texas (of course) and I think Oklahoma.

That is a cold temperature! Brrr. I don’t think we’ve been below 15 this year. Yet. Happy Birthday to your oldest. Hope you have a warmer week. Stay warm!

  3. vidya

here is hoping the weather gets warmer for you and for those in Texas too.. The cover on The Kitchen Front is tempting me and I look forward to your thoughts

We had cold and a bit of snow but nothing out of the ordinary for Maine. I sent good vibes and prayers to all affected by the ice, the winter chills, the loss of power. I’ve lost power for more than a day in FL and also in upstate NY and here in Maine. It is never easy, whether too hot or too cold. Hope everyone stays safe.
Congrats on your daughter’s birthday since you are only 21, right, lol? My youngest is 30 and oldest at 39, 32 is in the middle. Sorry to tell you new parents, it never gets easier no matter the age. Big kids, big problems, well sometimes 🙂 I look forward to a new Laura Griffin for sure!

Sorry to hear you had a cold week too, but I’m happy your power stayed on. It got entirely too cold in our house without it. Thankfully it seems like the pipes survived and we are already back to warmer weather!

I do love Lauren Blakely audiobooks. I’m sure I’ll buy that one soon! We had really cold here as well, not quite that cold, but pretty cold and with quite a bit of snow for a while that they even canceled our remote learning and we got good old fashioned snow days for a change. I’ll be 49 this year, so I feel your pain!

Brrr, and yes so glad you didn’t lose power when it dipped so low. How kind of Mr. C to let you know that you were not too young for a 30 year old kid. 🙂

    Have a great week, Kimberly!

Happy Birthday to your daughter. My youngest granddaughter turned 5 today. Where does the time go? Glad you did not lose power and hope it begins to warm up! Always look forward to a new Laura Griffin book.

Right now at our house (Arkansas) it is 48F, looks like it could storm any minute, weather app says rain is coming, yet our driveway is still completely under the snow. I’m so confused.

Hope your son has a nice birthday!

I don’t know how snows really feel but seeing how terrible it has been recently was really heartbreaking. Glad you’re good and had fire/heat during the time. Also, advance happy birthday to your oldest!

Wind chills of -38! That is unbearable! I am glad you got through without incident. I have been praying for Texas as well. What a horrible mess for those folks. The weather here is unpredictable. One minute we are wearing winter coats, and a few hours later, shedding off layers of clothing.
The Witch on the Block looks cute, and it’s on Kindle Unlimited! Yay. I will give that one a try.
    Thank you for hosting!

Wow that is sooo cold!! Hopefully it warms up for you guys. It has been pretty cold here (although no -38 wind chill here thankfully). Happy early birthday to your oldest? I hope you have a great Sunday and a great week ahead.

  13. Lola

Sorry to hear you had a crazy and bitter cold week. I hope next week is better. I am glad to hear at least you had power and had a fire going. Happy birthday to your daughter!

  14. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Eek that’s cold! I forgot what our windchill was. I don’t usually remember those numbers. I just look to see how cold it is temperature wise to see how many layers to wear to work, but usually by the afternoon it’s really hot with the heat running so I’m rolling up my sleeves. It’s a lose-lose situation basically. Lol.

Nice new reads! Lots of new to me ones. I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

Have a great week and happy reading!

Oh my word, Kimberly – that is FREEZING!!! Brrr… Do stay huddled over the fires until the weather decides to be reasonable once more… And happy birthday to your daughter – I recall my own personal crisis once mine hit the big 30. And now I’m scratching my head trying to figure out WHEN my eldest grandson turned 16. Time will keep sneaking by when we aren’t looking.

  17. Jill

This is the first time in a while we’ve had a real winter. We’re supposed to warm up next week- I hope you are too.

  18. Mareli @ Elza Reads

Congratulations on your oldest birthday and you sure don’t appear old enough to have a child of 30!

I’ve heard about the dreadful cold, take care of yourself and stay warm.

  19. Rachel

I don’t feel old enough to have a 30 yr old, but my oldest just turned 31 in January. I did have him really young. Just 20 so I’m 51. Still, it’s nice being empty nesters and still relatively young. Man, that’s cold! I wouldn’t leave the house either if I could help it. I feel really bad for those in Texas! What a mess.

I just finished Wild Sign and loved it. I’ll be buying the audio copy when it releases though so I can listen with the hubby. We’re currently working our way through book 2 and should finish on our car ride back home to Southern California.

Happy birthday to your eldest! If it’s any consolation, I’ve got a couple of years on you.

I’m glad your family weathered (ha!) the bitter temperatures all right. I worried about friends and relatives in Texas too, but they appear to have made it through. It can’t have been much fun, though. My SIL, who teaches high school in Texas, says her school is pretty messed up, I assume due to broken pipes from the below-freezing temperatures.

Enjoy your new books! I heard Laura Griffin talking about Flight on a podcast — I think it was SBTB, but I can’t remember for sure. Whichever it was, the book sounded really good.

-38?!? No thank you. My brother-in-law is in San Antonio. Their power wasn’t off *too* long but their hot water heater froze then burst and flooded his studio (He’s a ceramic artist/professor). It sounds like quite a mess. But we’re thankful they’re safe.

Happy birthday to your son! Enjoy your week!

  22. Greg

Wow, that’s cold. We’ve had cold here but not that bad. We had a school day too. Supposed to warm up though.

I hope you guys get a break this week.
