Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.  See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

The news has been effecting me physically, so I have buried myself in the HoHoHo readathon and movies. Supernatural ended this week. We’ve never missed an episode and while it was time, I cried. I did some online shopping, both for family here and out of state. I am hoping to get a Switch online that the family can play here. Fingers crossed. Be safe, be kind, and Stay Caffeinated.

Fingers crossed for finding the Switch! We bought one right after it came out and have absolutely loved it. If you can find one do try to buy extra controls and an extra charger for them. That has saved us. This is the first year I haven’t been leaning towards holiday books or movies. It is such a great way to get in the Christmas mood though. Hope you’re having a great week.

I love the name of your blog, but that might not be a surprise if you consider the name of my book blog. :))

I reserved A Promised Land by Barack Obama from the library and now I’m waiting for it to arrive, but, with the lockdown, it will take much longer than usual.

  3. ShootingStarsMag

I’m in the midst of a few books, so I haven’t been able to read AS MUCH for the read-a-thon, but I am almost finished with my first book so yay!! The news is just intense – I’m trying to avoid it as much as I can.

I’ve seen a few people say that they cried watching the ending of Supernatural. Happy Thanksgiving. I’m trying to avoid the news too. It’s hard. I like the snowflakes!

  5. Hena Tayeb

I have a bunch of the Unexpected Peril books in my TBR list, haven’t had the chance to read any of them yet.
I have not caught up with the latest season of Supernatural. I too am feeling blue and I have instead thrown myself into a major binge session of Buffy and Angel.

  6. Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra

I hear you on hiding from reality. I’ve been doing the same. Avoiding the news, burying my nose in books and watching Schitt’s Creek on Netflix for the past couple of weeks. It’s hard to believe it hasn’t even been 3 weeks since the election yet. With all of the constant drama, it feels like it has been months!

  7. MarthaE

I have some other reading to do and forgot to sign up for Ho, Ho, Ho. I’ll read a couple of Christmas books and hope you have fun.
    Gabby sure looks cute.
Sorry if the news is causing upset or stress. I am comforted in all situations knowing that God is in control. Either things will get worse or better. Life goes on and I’ll focus on family, friends, work, and reading.
I agree, stay safe and be kind! And enjoy your reading!

  8. Lorna

Okay, I have to ask what a switch is? You are right, the news is depressing. I do watch some of it and get a lot of it on Twitter as well. I probably should just stop obsessing. Can’t wait for The Vow! Won’t be long now. Hope you have a wonderful holiday week!

  9. Sophia Rose

Yeah, I try the news and then switch to fiction. 🙂 Yay for getting on your shopping. I’ve got a lot done already. Nice haul! I got the Deanna Raybourn book. I usually pick up the Chanel Cleeton Cuba stories, but still debating. Enjoying HoHoHoRAT!

    Have a great week, Kimberly!

  10. Lover of Romance

oh I get you on the news there, Its so stressful right now. I definitely see the common sense in taking a breather from it all. Focus on the happy things. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones this week darling.

  11. A Voracious Reader

I hate the news. I just want Jan 21st to get here so shit can start getting done that needs doing. *sigh* Stay safe!

We have a Switch. It’s fun! I hope you get one. *fingers crossed* The boys tried on 2 seperate days to get the PS5 from Walmart (online only) and they were successful this past Thurs. It should be shipping soon and they can’t wait. lol

  12. Sophie

I confess that I avoided the news this week and stayed in a nice, needed, bibble of ignorance.
And we began watching Supernatural this year with my husband so we still have some more seasons to watch. I hope next week will bring you better news Kimberly!

  13. Michelle Parsons

Planning to do all my shopping this weekend if possible. It’s going to be very hard this year.
My husband watched the last episode, I too think it was time for it to end.

I hope you have a great week, Kim! Happy Reading!

  14. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

I know what you mean about the news. I have started to feel physically sick to my stomach when I read or hear some things. (And some people.)

Enjoy your online shopping, and I hope you can get a Switch! I must admit, it’s the first I have been tempted by a game console. Usually, I just play games online or on my iPad or phone.

i have avoided the news for a long time now. mr wonderful used to keep up with it and still does, but nothing like he used to. we need to know what’s going on, but i don’t need every little detail. it’s snowing. 🙂

  16. Samantha

The news stresses me out too. I never want to hear the word “fraud” again. I started watching supernatural a few years ago on Netflix but only got to around season 5 or so. I might pick it back up!

The news is getting to me too. I’m working hard to switch it off (and that includes social media with constant links and commentary) and just exist in my immediate bubble for a while… I hope the HoHoHo Readathon brings some peace and joy! I’ve certainly been enjoying it even though my reading is slower than I’d like it to be.

Hope you have a good Thanksgiving on Thursday.

  18. Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out

I’ve bought exactly one Christmas present, and it’s the Supernatural calendar I buy my daughter every year. My daughter, who is a huge Supernatural fan, also cried . She’s been watching the show since she was 14 and in her short lived ‘goth’ phase, she’s 24 now so it’s been more than half her life.

Wishing you a great reading week, and good news

  19. Stormi Johnson

You know I have only ever seen a few episodes of Supernatural, it wasn’t bad but just never got into it. I know it was loved by a lot. Hope you can find a new show to love!

Have a great week and happy reading!

  20. Jessica @ a GREAT read

OMG that Supernatural ending almost killed me. I mean I always suspected something like that happening, but I guess in some ways I did hope for a little more. Though my mom made a good point, the episode last week would’ve just been a good enough ending too had they set things up a tiny bit more to give them a more contented ending…but again, I truly always expected THIS route. I did miss them doing their recap with Carry On, but it came back later on and I still cried!

Good luck on finding a Switch! I know my sister is trying to get one too and it’s already becoming stressful. She ordered one that is on backorder still, and she tried ordering it from somewhere else for a little bit cheaper but she’s starting to fear it was a scam. So make sure you try buying from all the known sites! I did see the bundle being offered nearly everywhere with Mario Kart, so hopefully that will make things easier for you! Good luck!

Nice new reads! These are all totally new to me ones. I hope you will enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  21. Lola

It’s sad when a series you really enjoyed ends. That’s nice you did some holiday shopping already. I hope you’ll have a good week!

  22. sjhigbee

Oh I don’t blame you for shutting off from all the nonsense going on! It’s wrenching when you bond with a show – I’m dreading getting to the end of my binge-watch of The Big Bang Theory. Have a good week, Kimberly!

  23. SJ

I finally finished Christmas shopping the other day, but still waiting on a couple things to get here. I’m sad to hear that Supernatural ended, although I stopped watching it a long time ago. Hope you feel better, I think all of us are done with the news lately.

  24. Tessa

The Supernatural ending was such a tear-jerker. I think I would rather have had the last episode be the previous one. In shows like like, I enjoy an open ending where I get to decide what happens because my version is very different. Be safe. Be well!

  25. Mareli @ Elza Reads

Hi Kimberly! Ooooe I love the snowflakes! Gorgeous! News became a reality in our little town and I also just want to hide away…

Hope you will have a good week and I already got one or two great books from the Ho ho ho readathon.

    Lots of Love,

    Elza

  26. Iza

I’m sorry you weren’t so good this week *hugs*
I haven’t watched the latest episodes of Supernatural but I will, just taking my time to enjoy them while they last. Wow, you got the audiobook narrated by Obama himself, I’ll be happy to read your review. Stay safe, I hope the grandson’s birthday went well and take care 🙂

    • Bex

The news is just as depressing across the pond. I’ve stopped tuning in as often now! Hope you manage to have a lovely Thanksgiving and get your switch!!

  27. Maureen @ Maureen’s Books

I so behind on Supernatural. I definitely love that show.. but I just haven’t been able to catch up. I can’t believe it has been so long!
I’m a little behind on HoHoHo.. but I’m catching up .
Have a great week and happy reading.

  28. Laurel-Rain Snow

I am also frustrated and agitated by the news these days…let’s hope things are resolved soon!

I want the Barack Obama book!

Stay safe and enjoy your week.

  29. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

I’ve been avoiding the news and Facebook mostly from the week before the election and have not wanted to tune back in to either. I like my life sane. Lol! So I don’t blame you. I hope you find one. The kids are getting one this year and of course they never go on sale so I got one a month back and now they actually are a bit on sale. Figures. I hope you get one! Happy Thanksgiving this week!

  30. Greg

Yay for the HoHoHo RAT haha! I feel the same, I need a readathon to take my mind off the chaos. 🙂

I’ve been meaning to read Dannika Dark.

    Have a great Thanksgiving!
